Marijuana Advocates Forget to File for Ballot

LAS VEGAS (AP) - An initiative to legalize pot in Nevada might go up in smoke after organizers forgot to file 6,000 petition signatures by a June 15 deadline.

Clark County (search) Registrar Larry Lomax said Billy Rogers, president of the political consulting firm seeking to qualify the petition, is pleading for him to accept the 6,000 names.

"Unfortunately, the state law says they have to turn it all in by June 15," Lomax said.

By contrast, the 21st amendment (repeal of 18th, "prohibition") passed in a snap.

Marijuana Advocates Forget to File for Ballot

I guess that means the Libertarian Party will again be a non-factor in this year's race as their core voters will probably forget to vote.

So, there aren't any pro-decriminalization Republicans... is that what you're saying?

And with that, thugs like Harry Anslinger turned their attention to the demon weed as the new scourge... look him up, he was a first-class ex-Prohibition prick who wanted to keep his job so bad, he found a new evil.

By prick, you mean, someone who enforced the law, rather than disobeyed laws because he disagreed with them.

George W. Bush will win reelection by a margin of at least ten per cent.

Okay, sure... but there was a helluva lot of scaremongering going on in Anslinger's day, and he was a big source of it. Look him up. He had to have something for him and his post-Prohibition crew to do so bad, he got a lot of gullible people to buy the "Reefer Madness" line. Better he should've gone after cocaine or heroin, as today.

Here's some of Anslinger's scaremongering examples:

I know you won't like the sources, but there they are, and that's what the man and other people like him said back then.
