Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announces she is voting against the nomination of J. Leon Holmes to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas: In her remarks on the floor of the U.S. Senate, which are continuing as I type this, she also condemned Second Circuit Judge Guido Calabresi for his recent remarks about President Bush. It will be her first vote against any of President Bush's judicial nominees.

You've nailed it. Excuse my earlier post as I was reading too fast for my feeble mind.

I'm a big fan of KBH. I'd like to know her reasoning before I disagree with her vote. Unless something has changed drastically, she can count on my vote yet again.

Maybe .... she's an abortion-loving feminist (as opposed to a real feminist, who would never support killing babies) and doesn't want to see a pro-life Catholic on the bench?

I so hope she runs and loses the gubernatorial primary to Perry in 2006. Then we could get a real Republican in that Senate seat.

I hear you on getting a more conservative senator, but why would you want her to lose to Perry? He's the biggest RINO officeholder in our state right now - he's the same guy who gave us the "hate crimes" law, a liberal Democrat appointed Secretary of State (who is now the Democrat nominee for US congress in a safe Dem seat), a liberal Democrat appointed to the State Supreme Court, a dozen or more liberal Democrats appointed to lower state district and appellate courts, and a proposed tax-hike-by-shuffling-fees-around that was fortunately scuttled in the legislative session. The sooner Rick "I switched parties so I could run for higher office in 1989" Perry gets the boot by a Republican - virtually ANY Republican in Texas - the better off we'll be.

I can think of one person who I'd like to see replace Kay in the Senate and that is Representative Henry Bonilla. His ACU rating is over 90% most years with the bills lowering it being things such as the Patriot Act & related bills and Medicare.

Two other good Representatives that could run to replace Kay would be Pete Sessions and Joe Barton.

I have a feeling that the two Democrats that might run against her will be Chet Edwards and/or John Sharp. Both could easily eek out a victory due to their appearance as "conservative" Democrats.

KBH IS the face of the GOP. And Specter is the guy Bush pulled out all the stops to defeat a conservative for.

The Bushies DON'T WANT conservative judges! They love stirring us up on the issue, but the last thing Bush will ever do is get a conservative on the SCOTUS.

Just called and expressed my concern for this vote. The young lady on the other end was very nice and promised to pass this on to the senator.

She's a horrible RINO, I can't imagine anyone being much worse, although I could be wrong or my attention may be on her more because I'm in DC. I'd just like to be rid of her.
