He's a big time lib on the level of Bill Clinton. Enough reason why no one should vote for him.

With the June 25 announcement by conservative Republican Jack Ryan.... I stopped reading after that laughable opening line.
To: cyborg
You're right. But Illinois is no longer a GOP stronghold. The White House has written off the state and it says volumes about the Senate contest the party doesn't even have a viable alternative to to the now-late Jack Ryan.

I wouldn't be surprised if IL becomes the Massachusetts of the Midwest. You know, there being only enough Republicans to fill a phone booth. Sad but true.

Yep... republicans have no one to blame but themselves if they can't find a good candidate.

Does Mr. Obama have a brother named Al?

Our state party is pathetic. I'd have made it a point to vote for Ryan if he had stayed in.
One of the saddest things about IL is that we know have a former anti-gunner Rep (Blagoyevich) as governor. He is nowhere near the nightmare that I thought he'd be. We've suffered for years under a corrupt party.

Enough reason why no one should vote for him.Considering that one member of the Clinton Crime Family served two terms in the White House, and another is currently in the U.S. Senate, representing the West Side of Manhattan, I think you're being too rational.

As one of the few remaining conservatives in the Land of Lincoln, I've taken to refering to him as Obama-bin-Laden. I understand he was a member of the religion of peace at one point. If he left, maybe one of the muftis will do us all a favor and issue a fatwa. The Republicans in Illinois, RINO owned and operated, have committed political suicide.

There are, but 1. no one wants to be a sacrifical lamb, and 2. considering the way the state GOP leadership stabbed Jack Ryan in the back, there is absolutely no good reason for a prominent Republican to put his integrity on the line for these, ahem, people. Illinois won't improve until at the very least, the state leadership is unceremoniously tossed out of office.

(Actually, Obama is biracial; one can only call him African-American by reading his white mother out of his genetic code.) This is new. I never heard this rule for 'african-american' before.

If he left, maybe one of the muftis will do us all a favor and issue a fatwa. This is one of the most widely distributed untruths about Obama. Say what you will about his politics, but the man is a Christian, heavily involved in his church. I'm not going to vote for him, but I'm not going to spread false rumors about him either.

America has already suffered for almost 40 years under a system in which incompetents are accepted to college and graduate and professional school, hired to responsible jobs, and given government contracts, due solely to their race, ethnicity, or sex, while qualified people suffer egregious discrimination, based solely on their race, ethnicity, or sex. Obama would maintain such vicious programs in perpetuity. Suppose a college were to set up a program which reduced admissions and graduation requirements for blue-eyed-blond women, and these reduced requirements were well-publicized. What do you think the response would be?

Is there no prominent Republican in Illinois? Peter Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, the RINO party absolutely despises him. Given a choice between Fizgerald and Obama, the RINO machine would back Obama.

We've suffered for years under a corrupt party. Actually, I have more respect for Blagojevich than I was expecting to. I don't like him, but he's nowhere near as bad as King George the RINO. I must confess to some bewilderment as to why a number of conservatives voted for King George, given that he very openly ran to the left of his opponent. Too bad Poshard couldn't have won the Democrat primary this year instead of in 1998.
