Twenty years ago, Woody Allen gave us a movie that now seems to be prophetic in its description of John Kerry, this year's Democratic nominee. Leonard Zelig, Allen's title character, was a coreless little fellow who stood for nothing. He could not take a position that was his alone and he would immediately change himself to fit anyone he was with. He never took a personal position on anything because he always wanted people to like him more than he wanted to stand for anything. So too does John Kerry. At one point, Zelig actually physically became like a member of any group that he found himself with. When he was with Blacks, he turned Black. In the presence of Asians, he actually took on Asian features. Ever the chameleon, while talking to an obese man, he grows a pot belly. Given a choice, John Kerry would gladly do these things if he thought it would get him elected president. Remember the "botox" effect? It made him look younger so he could appeal to younger voters. It made him look like what he thought people wanted him to look like, rather than what he really does look like. Around Catholics, Zelig was transported to the Vatican. Around Catholics in Iowa, Zelig/Kerry actually said "I believe life begins at conception.", this in spite of his hero status in the eyes of NORAL. Real Catholics know Zelig?Kerry's only connection to Catholic values is what he says, never what he does. Remember his taking Holy Communion in a non Catholic Church, because he was there, campaigning, illegally of course? Zelig would be proud. Under hypnosis, Zelig admits to his psychiatrist, " I wanna be liked." Its not a stretch to believe this is how Zelig/Kerry feels. That's for sure. How very much like John Kerry and Leonard Zelig really are! Both are spineless, hollow little men, incapable of displaying a truly functioning and independent personality. While Leonard Zelig lives only in Woody Allen's mind, "president Kerry" lives only in the mind's of his handlers. We thought Al Gore was the real Zelig. It seems we were wrong. He's living and changing, every day, out on the campaign trial and Leonard Zelig will be standing right next to him and right inside of him.

Don't forget--he can turn Jewish too.
Kerry turned into a member back in 1971, as I recall.
If Kerry is Zelig, I guess that would make Bill Clinton Zeligula.
