The President flew from Camp David, using the Hagerstown, MD airport, to Charleston, WV, but not before he and accompanying staff and Cabinet members had to change jets. AF1 had a faulty engine and another jet had to be flown from Andrews AFB for the President and his entourage to use.
The President missed a Church service that he had planned on attending in WV, but said that he didn't miss it because of the sermon but because of a faulty engine and necessary jet change.
He spoke to an enthusiastic crowd in Charleston, where applause interrupted his speech after just about every sentence. In the pictures, notice the number of American flags - it seemed that everyone had one.
Sorry you weren't feeling well--are you better today? Either my allergies are back big time or I'm getting a cold . . .
We went to the races last night and there were fireworks after. My husb. remarked to me how lucky we were, and then went on to say how we were free to GO to the races, worship at a church OF OUR CHOOSING, etc. And he's absolutely right, and unfortunately we take it for granted all too much.
Love the blue shirt.
But, hey, I'm easy.
It's so great that both our President and VP have wonderful wives whom they obviously love dearly and who are so supportive of them.
Lynn always seems to be right behind Dick, --she's quite the lady in her own right.
I just love both couples and they love each other.
It has to be a big help in jobs like they have.
I guess what I don't like about that blue shirt is that it looks bulky on him. (I know part of it is the vest)
He just has such a nice upper body that it is a shame to hide it under bulky shirts. Remember the green silk shirt?
Loved that one.
I started to come around about 9 PM last night, and today I've moved past feeling like a protoplasmic blob -- even feel like a real hyoomun bean.
;-)
After reading Karen Hughes' book and looking at today's photos, I'm getting a much deeper insight on why the x42's twoferone are so absolutely desperate to get back into the White House. Everybody waits on the president and first lady. Everybody. Responsible public servants understand that the reason everybody waits on them is because the president's duties are so overwhelming he couldn't get the real work done if he had to attend to the little (actually, big) side things. Irresponsible public ripoff artists go to the WH to be waited on, dam* the consequences of their decisions, if and when they are made.
And WHAT green silk shirt would THAT be??? Picture, pretty please??? I bet green is a good color on him.
He does have a very fit upper body. Maybe Laura doesn't want him showing it off too much? LOL!
Mr. Ohio, the 'boys' and I were asked to be on the platform Saturday, so I got some pics from there.
Pretty exciting! Did any of our WVa freepers hear him yesterday??
That's the back of Sen. Voinovich's head....
The pics never turn out as well as you hope they will, but I got to shake both Dick and Lynn's hands and thank them!
It was nice to hear Lynny speak for once. And Dick told a little about how he and Lynne met--at school when they were 13 years old! He said they'll be celebrating their 40th anniv. next month. It IS nice to see two "real" couples, who genuinely LOVE and respect their spouses, in the WH.
Glad you're feeling better!
Whoo hoo!
The pics are fine, btw.
Well hello, Ohio!
What an exciting weekend you had! I was thinking of you when I saw they were in Ohio, but never dreamed you'd be there(you didn't tell us!) I'f I'd have known, I could have looked for you. :-)
I bet they were as nice in person as George and Laura.
***I thought, Look how far we've come since September 11, when it seemed like we would never be able to smile again.***
It's thanks to our great leaders that we CAN smile again. If Kerry would have been Pres., he wouldn't have looked at the good that came out of what happened, and raised America up again, but we'd still be in that very dark place.
And think of the people in Iraq and Afghanistan who now, thanks to the Pres. and our troops, will have that kind of freedom--to sit out in the open wtih friends and watch a sporting event and eat popcorn.
Wrote my experience coming home last night to share with the newly formed Bagdad chapter of Freerepublic.....Post 108 Here:

You might enjoy reading it.......Nice to be able to communicate with , thank, and congratulate our soldiers....on the Independance Day weekend. SOme of you might wish to post there.
Ohio. How exciting you got to see AND shake the Cheney's hands. Loved the pics too! A belated happy independence day to you and yours!
We did see ourselves on local TV, though....which was VERY exciting! :o)
Off to pick youngest daughter up from the airport. She's back in the country after her mission trip, and I'm most excited to see her!
Have a safe trip! Did she have fun on the mission trip? Are you all home now, at least temporarily? :-)
Laura is coming to Omaha tomorrow, but I don't quite have the $15,000/couple to have lunch with her. If I did have it, it would be money well spent!
Everyone yelled and cheered throughout the speech
Did you hear the part at the Wheeling speech when several
people were yelling back at him at his comments in
forms of agreement. he was laughing and said hey, do you
want to hear the rest of the speech.
Their dau. who works at the State Dept. had child no. 4
a son.
Yes, I saw their first grandson! I bet that's why they had their granddaughter along--to help the mom and dad as they adjusted to the new baby.
I did hear him say that during the speech--he's quite a speaker--and Lynne is too!
