Arnold Schwarzenegger won't be running for a second term in California.
That's the word from radio hosts Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross of San Francisco's KGO.
The hosts reported in the San Francisco Chronicle that word on Arnold's plans comes from California state Attorney General Bill Lockyer.
Bear in mind that Lockyer is a Democrat, no friend of Arnold, and is already running for governor.
At a fundraiser last week in the city Tony Bennett left his heart, Lockyer was quoted as saying, "as my very best supporters, I want you to know something very important. ... Don't repeat this, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is not going to run again, and the race is only mine to lose."
The hosts then stated Lockyer made the following three statements as evidence of his claim:
1. "Arnold has personally told me on several occasions that he is not going to run again,"
2. "Maria Shriver has told NBC that she will be back in two years," and
3. "Arnold has signed some movie contracts which will require him to work full time after 2006."
Schwarzenegger's office laughed off the claim, "Bill is either nursing a fantasy or Oliver Stone has sold him a conspiracy theory," spokesman Rob Stutzman said.
Please note: The Terminator is very unpredictable. Remember how he told everyone he was not running in the recall until the last moment - and even surprised his mentor, former L.A. mayor Richard Riordan.
With so many wolves still hoping to devour Schwarzenegger, it's quite possible he may be giving out a false signal.
To compare RINOld with Tillman is outrageous!
Tillman like some athletes and actors of previous wars went to fight for his country! And paid the ultimate price!
RINOld did nothing of the sort!!!
Decaf, dude. Decaf.
On my local school board we have one of seven who is a millionaire. On my City Council, paid $600 a month, one is the wife of the former President of BMC Software, worth about 50 million, one is a financial planner worth 2-5 million, one a well to do lawyer who's wife is also a lawyer, worth unknown. So we have a few.
As to moving to California, no way, it's full of folks like you who get off their meds. Here in Texas we just knock the hell out of them, out there you have to go to court.
Of course I've heard of McClintock... Do you have a point to make???
Yes. And I thought I made it very well. But apparently it was too subtle for you.
You post a poll on voter preference between Bustamante and McClintock and proposed this as evidence that McClintock would win a statewide seat in CA.
How did you miss the election?
It wasn't supposed to be "THAT" sexy. I think you're reading way too much into that scene. How many times DID you WATCH that scene, by the way??? LOL
I must correct your statement that we have kept putting up "attack candidates" against Boxer. In fact, her 1998 opponent was Matt Fong, who ran a wimpy campaign that failed to draw strong ideological lines and that responded weakly to Boxer's vicious attacks against him as an "extremist." We can only hope that Bill Jones WILL attack this nut case.
*L* My post wasn't an insult. It just reported the facts, which you afraid to admit.
And you're not the one lowering himself, between us.
Got it?
No, I didn't think you did.
This one-source story about Arnold not running again may well be spin on both ends -- Lockyer and Arnold. Don't believe it. The real problem, if there is one, would be Maria. But it seems unlikely to me that such a decision would have been made yet, or will be soon.
Is it the drugs?
Ah, Matt. I forgot about Matt. And unfortunately so did most of CA. I attend those annual county Rep. BBQs that all the early candidates hit. Boxer is despised. And I would bet the support in her own constituency is feeble. But Boxer takes her cues from Feinstein and survives. She's an empty little puppet. The "extremist" blanket can be thrown on any Rep. in this state. But I think if you look at the differences between a Fong campaign and Schwarzenegger, Arnie wasn't on the defensive. That enabled him to win over support. If you're fighting off a label you don't have that advantage. I'll vote for Bill Jones, for sure. And I'm sure he conduct a very issue- straight campaign. But he's got to find some energy or his ticket is going nowhere.
I make you the same offer, you get to Houston and I'll meet you at the airport, no need to drive into town. I do however get out there every couple of years, and I'll mark you down in my day timer and be sure you get notice.
It's all about defining Barbara Bimbo as the extremist.
I lost track...:-)
20 times in the last month?
Wow...
