Iraq's Tribes Issue an Ultimatum to Al-Fallujah
Al-Najaf News Network ^ | July 4, 2004 | A Statement by the Iraqi Tribes

A Statement by the Iraqi Tribes

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

"Fain would they extinguish Allah's light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected, even though the Unbelievers may hate this to happen. "

A look on the events shows us incidents occurring in quick succession in Ashura, Karbala, and Al-Kazimiyah. Our sons are blown up by booby-traps everywhere. Sedition is transported to our formerly peaceable and sacred cities. They clamor, weep, and mourn for the days of Saddam and nostalgically remember the days of Haddam [word play on Saddam's name, destroyer], days that were prosperous only for them. We know that their objective is not to bring Saddam back but an altogether different goal. They kill intentionally and brutally after kidnapping anyone who belongs to the jurisdiction of the Prince of the Faithful. They do not distinguish between an Iraqi, Arab, or foreign national. However, they respect, release, and apologize to anyone who is not loyal to the jurisdiction of the Prince of the Faithful regardless of his nationality. The best proof of their behavior is what they did to the Lebanese citizen and the Iraqis whose bodies they mutilated, but they set the Egyptian and the Turk free.

On 5 June 2004 a group of young men who own trucks and who transport goods went to Al-Fallujah to do work for one of its inhabitants. After they delivered the merchandise, they were taken captive by a group calling itself the "mujahidin," but should actually be called evildoers. The young men's families sought the help of the city's police and contacted Abdallah al-Jinabi, imam of Sa'd Bin-Abu-Waqqas Mosque, and Zafir al-Dulaymi, imam of Al-Hadrah al-Muhammadiyah Mosque. The two imams refused to cooperate to help secure the young men's release. The kidnappers brutally tortured them, executed them, and then mutilated their bodies. They robbed them of all their possessions including their clothes. The incident was covered up and the media organs that sympathize with the culprits and lament their calamities refrained from reporting it. The media that remained silent about this occurrence included Al-Jazirah and Al-Arabiyah television channels, which generally make mountains out of molehills. This action is unacceptable by any standard and by the rules of all heavenly religions. It violates all divine and man-made laws and all the values and ethics of all societies.

Hence we declare the following:

1. Do you wish us to strike a siege around Al-Fallujah and Al-Ramadi area in general and separate it from Iraq? Perhaps it is this that you want because you seek independence. In this way we will make it easier for you.

2. We swear by God that our patience has been exhausted by your treacherous, cowardly acts. We have been patient for long. Otherwise we will kill the owners of companies, offices, and businessmen who are natives of your area but who now reside in the south, the Central Euphrates region, and Baghdad. We will kill any of you who enter Baghdad or are now residing in Baghdad or our other provinces. If this is what you want, then it is your choice.

3. The Iraqi Government needs to adopt prompt measures to arrest the culprits and turn them over to the tribes of the men who were martyred. The tribes will judge them in accordance with civil and tribal laws.

4. The coalition authority must not take these events lightly. What has happened to the conditional truce? Was the truce only between Al-Fallujah's inhabitants and the Americans, or was it meant to provide security to the entire country and its people?

In light of the foregoing, we declare that we should not be blamed for what we will do because we have already given a warning. Beware of the wrath of the patient.

The Names of the Martyrs:

1. Hamid Faysal Matar 2. Khalid Latif Matar 3. Hamid Abbas Abal 4. Yas Khudayr Abbas 5. Ahmad Ali Hilal 6, Basim Muhammad Faris

We urge everyone to act and publish this statement in all the media so that the world will learn about the real situation in Al-Fallujah and what the people of Iraq think about it.

I got this from a source that I trust. The quoted words in the beginning are from the Koran. Since the authors asked that it be published widely, I thought I would. It appears that a large number of Iraqis share our dislike of the Al-Jazirah and Al-Arabiyah networks.

These are Shiite tribes from the south and central Iraq, I believe.

Allawi is going to be forced to do something about those scum in Fallujah.

If he can bring the rest of the Iraqis together (moderate Sunni, Kurds and Shiites) to demand something be done, then maybe the Iraqis (with some assistance from us) can finally drop the hammer on these animals.

Very interesting. This has been building for weeks. The Shia are right that the media ignored this story--Arab and Western alike. Fallujah needs to be addressed pronto by the interim government.

I wonder if tribesmen, living in camelskin-tents and brandishing AK-47's, have any need for a veteren C#.NET programmer / analyst with experience in MS SQL 2000?

I better send my resume.

All you need to hunt jihadi in Fallujah is a cell phone. Deliver the coordinates and the Americans will create a hole in the ground.

Let it never be said that the new Iraqi government does not seek to be helpful to its citizens. ; )

" In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful."

I have begun to hate hearing this. Stoning people, cutting off their hands, their heads. There is nothing compassionate or merciful about this "god", nor those who follow it. I know, I've gone over the edge.

Sure, but only if you can program in RPG or AK-47.

Kind'a sounds like a Declaration. Better that the Iraqis level Faluja than the US. The US needs to be changing the focus to Syria.

I heard about this happening a couple of weeks ago and knew there was going to be trouble. Now the tribes of Fallujah have the Shiia AND the Kurds against them. It would behove them to straighten up their act pretty quick or the reason they won't be part of the new Iraq is not because they want their own independent city, it'll be because they are dead.

If we did do that, then every Iraqi in the country would be calling his rival's location in... I think we are a little more careful than that.

It has to do with a violation of the ancient laws of hospitality. Our father Abraham extended hospitality to the stranger. He is not an enemy until proven otherwise. And what the people of Fallujah did was to turn a stranger into an enemy by spurning hospitality as well as honor towards someone from another tribe. Hospitality and honor are significant themes in the Middle East and they loom large not only in the Koran but in the Bible. The people of Fallujah may in the end be doomed if they do not adhere to these laws. And that will be their choice.
