100% correct. Saddam must not be allowed to live if Iraq is to move ahead. If they think there's even a 1% chance he could ever return to power, they are not going to embrace democracy as they would if they knew he was gone.

I do wonder, though, how the anti-death-penalty folks are going to muddy up the works or if they will grant a hypocritical "exemption" for crimes against humanity.

I've had the same niggling feeling. It isn't the Iraqi government that I think will accidently free him, I fear it will be one of our stupid, bottom-sucking, tree-hugging liberals who will free the beast. You know, they will feel sorry for him.

I remember old folks when I was a kid talking about hangings they had seen. I have never wanted to watch a hanging but I would reconsider that decision for this one.

Hanging is very suitable for the bootless and unhorsed.

If hanging was good enough for Nazi war criminals, it is certainly fine for Saddam.

Indeed, and Yog Sothoth to you as well.

There'd be one fewer foreign "leader" supporting Kerry.

I think they should hang him a little at the time. First hang his left arm, then his right. Then move on to his legs before hanging him from the neck.

Oh, and let him see each of his limbs hanging from the other ropes before they hang him from the neck.

Normally hanging is a rather humane form of execution, as the neck snaps instantly once the body drops through the gallows. However it may be worth considering lowering Saddam down gradually so he is slowly strangled to death.

Thanks for humouring me, as I'm in a weird mood. Watching The Patriot for Independence Day and the chopping scene in the woods affected me all over again.

Oh wait a minute, forgot where you are. Pardon me. (Hey, at least I spelled humoring with a u.)
