Boring? Forget the bus tours. How about hearse tours?

If this is true, the charisma-challenged John & Dick rat ticket will be drowned out in Boston by the Kennedy-Kopechne Memorial Kegger, the DeanTeam Scream-along, Michael Moore, the Sink Emperor, the scorned Jimmah Carter and one pissed off mayor. And the dems still have time to book more acts!

Edwards is Quayle, without Quayle's Senate accomplishments.

Lightweight pretty boy.

Gephardt is sort of another Mondale, isn't he? Colorless, conformist, institutional, rather than charismatic. He looks a lot like yesterday's man, a survival from the age of Mondale and Dukakis. Also, it doesn't seem like Gephardt rouses or could ever rouse much regional spirit, considering how badly he did in the caucuses in Missouri's neighbor Iowa.

Gephardt might help Kerry shore up some union support, but those are votes a Democrat would probably have anyway. He doesn't bring along any important constituency, so picking him looks like a mistake -- or else a feint to build suspense and attract attention.

"I don't see Hillary."

Ceci Connolly, on Fox News Sunday, said definitely not Hillary. That gives me hope that those in charge figure Kerry will lose.

scary kerry's wishbook candidate would be Kofi Annan from the UN, but even our "world community "rats can't deal with that one.

""Little Dick" Gephardt is only about 5'4" tall."

Amazing.....like learning that John F'n "flip-flop fop" Kerry was in Vietnam,

And I thought only Dashle (TDIDS) was gravitationally challenged...sniff.

I read an article last week suggesting Gephardt would be no help in Missouri outside his own district of St. Louis, that he's not especially well-liked or even well-known with the voters overall in Missouri, despite his leadership position.

Just FWIW...

This is who the Washington Press Corps wants it to be--a known quantity as far as they are concerned.

The person who will get it is the person who has the highest numbers from focus groups being run this weekend.

Old Dickie has a labor base, which Kerry will get anyway, and he cannot guarantee MO for Kerry. He runs a St. Louis-machine-style operation (old politics) and has never won a statewide election. Furthermore, out-staters traditionally dislike St. Louisians (except for Danforth) in statewide elections. Talent's St. Louis history cost him the governor's race in 2000 and he was only saved in 2002 by a concerted out-state campaign effort.

Furthermore, Dickhart has alot of skeletons in his closet with fundraising, etc. (negative) and a newly "outed" daughter (Democratic plus). He's a "great orator", in their opinion; but, a pedantic orator. He's a Washington has-been who couldn't even get it together to get his "base" out in Iowa. Chriminney--he came in FOURTH in a race that was supposed to be his!

The only real positive about Gephardt is that he's so untelegenic, he makes Kerry looks handsome by comparison--and that is a truly pathetic commentary!

Gephardt has lots of skeletons where fundraising is concerned. After all, he was one of the original culprits in the House Banking scandal.

"Dick Gephardt announced his candidacy for president. Gephardt now plans to look for a running mate or as he put it: 'The alcohol to my sleeping pills.'" —Conan O'Brien

"Gephardt said even though he and the other Democratic candidates have different views they all will give the same concession speech." —Craig Kilborn

"Are you ready for some exciting news? Dick Gephardt is running for president — all right, settle down. Gephardt ran once before for president in 1988, but he was no match for the irresistible charm and charisma of Michael Dukakis." —David Letterman

I agree with you about Dick in MO. He was more popular in MO in 1988 than he is now, as evidenced by his machine's inability to guarantee Holden the gov nomination. Dick can't even control his own state party anymore muchless the state.

MO will be Bush/Bond/Blunt country come November 2004!
