Re your post #118 -- I've thrown alot of home parties...Pampered Chef, Southern Living, Creative Memories, etc....but the one time I threw a Pleasure Party, I must have had forty women lined up to shop in the "private room". I'm telling you I've never seen anything like it! It was hilarious!
LOL...now, GatorGirl, you are the only on this thread who claims to have hosted one of these parties. And, here is what I would like to ask you - what kind of information does the company actually provide to women hosting these parties, in terms of selling? Here's why I ask:
A long time ago I once went to a party for something -- I think it was bathing suits, or some type of clothing -- and the only reason I went is because I felt so sorry for the woman who was having it, as she was trying to help pay for the college education of her kids, and was already working two jobs (and one place where she worked is where I worked at the time).
She made it sound to me like if I went, then, she gets credit or something from her company just for having more people show up. So, I went -- not planning to buy.
But, when I got there, to her home, far from being a low-key, mellow gathering of women, it turned out to be most high-pressured sales environment I'd ever experienced. I felt like unless I bought something at this party, I might not be let out the door to leave!
Consequently, I have always wondered - is that the way these companies tell their people to have parties? To make sure everyone who goes actually buys something?
Because I much prefer to shop at my own pace, without being pressured to buy something, and for that reason, I doubt I will ever go to another one of these parties for anything.
Yet, I am glad there are women out there making money from these parties, and other women seem to enjoy hosting and attending these parties.
However, I certainly did not enjoy attending, because not buying something does not seem to be an option.

Hey Summer...
Sorry I didn't get back to you before. I took the weekend off!
Perhaps it depends on the rep, but I have never hostessed nor attended a home sales party that was high pressure at all! Basically, my friends and I look at it as a good opportunity to get together. I especially love Pampered Chef because they cook and you get to share all the yummy stuff they make. I hate high pressure sales of anything and would definitely not host or attend these shows if they were like that.
The lady who did the party in question was just the cutest thing. She was a military wife and at the time she did my party she was about 8 1/2 months pregnant. She was too funny!! All the guests were middle to upper middle class ladies, all married and all with children. It is definitely marketed as a marriage enhancing thing. There were alot of happy husbands in my neighborhood that night!
