Algiers, Algeria, Jul. 3 (UPI) -- Sources allege Algeria has acquired the nuclear infrastructure that could be converted to produce bomb-grade plutonium.

Maybe they'll bomb France?....
Big difference in the ability to make plutonium and making a functional nuclear weapon. While one of the hardest steps is the production of plutonium, or HEU, there are plenty of other difficult things that have to be done before one can produce an atomic bomb. Of course then one has to make it deliverable and not just a "garage bomb" such as our test at Trinity.
So they buy the missiles from N. Korea.
Next question?

As I said, if we wait until the countries have everything, including a fully operational nuclear missile, or several of them, we waited too long, way too long.
Again, the bomb has to be deliverable which means it can't be the size of Fat Man unless they've got a very large ICBM or a bomber. North Korea doesn't sell its only large ICBM, mostly because they're still trying to get it to work right all the time.
The gun method of making a nuclear bomb is easy if you have the right material, nothing complicated about it. No, it is not gonna be a megaton explosion but it doesn't have to be, any nuclear device will create havoc and panic and that is their goal.
Well, it wouldn't be the worse possible thing in the world if Algeria and France nuke one another.. Who else does Algeria have a problem with? Maybe they'll slap Mauretania around or something but I just can't seem to work up much concern over that..
More likely that Algeria will team with France to nuke us.
I read that terrorists are also trying to establsih themselves in Algeria.
If commie or muslim loonies ever do attack us with nukes, then rats must hang. Literally, hang.
Of course the problem with that is producing enough HEU to make the bomb. Refining HEU presents its own series of problems that take time to overcome.
If anything happens, they will blame it on Bush, regardless.
Pakistan and N. Korea seemed to have overcome the problems.
What makes you think that Iran, Syria and Algeria can't?
(There was another article about the CIA suspecting that Syria is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons as well.)
I was mainly just joking, to be sure. I think the proliferation of nukes is the most serious of matters, even if Algeria in particular doesn't alarm me near as much as Syria or Iran, by example.
I didn't say they couldn't. Any nation could do it. I was simply stating that producing plutonium isn't the only thing needed to make an atomic bomb and it is not something that can be done overnight.
The Algerians HATE the French.
I say we arm the Congo.
Are you saying that the French don't hold much sway over Algeria anymore? How did this happen? There is gas and oil there, isn't there?
Sometimes evil gets so overwhelming...I get some consolation from 2 Chr. 7.14:
"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, then I will hear their prayers and heal their land" [world?]
RATS will scream, if we're attacked with Muslim nukes, that it's Bush's fault for not A. Protecting us. and B., sitting down at the UN and appeasing our enemies. RATS will have it both ways. They reserve that dubious right for themselves and the media plays the game.
