But sis, the lessons I learned from you are what helped me send the 100+ care packages to Kandahar Afghanistan last year for the Hobbit Hole! The Hobbit Hole sent me literally thousands of dollars and never even knew the chaplain's name until he wrote them back.
Then, after our Afghanistan contact came home, I took the lessons I learned from you and passed then on to our new coordinator who had a son-in-law in Iraq...we are still sending to that platoon, even though the SIL is home.
And that's not all! I've trained countless freepers who have freepmailed me...they have a servicemember's address (cousin, nephew, niece), but don't know how to send a package!
Then, I've trained my parents and several of their friends!
The post office where I used to send to was always so tickled to see me coming and were so helpful that I baked them a batch of cookies!
I still send packages...to a friend in Afghanistan. About once a month. My current post office man has two sons serving and he always takes the time to talk to me about them.
I intend to get you something eventually and also continue helping out the Hobbit Hole.
This sounds like it's all about me, but really...it's all about you. Your influence back when we did the Kosovo care packages has had a ripple effect!
I was feeling discouraged once about my doctoring, and went to report for jury duty locally, not selected--but while in this not so large room I looked around and realized there were 3 people there whose lives I'd saved by timely or tricky diagnoses. It was very uplifting and encouraging, because ocassionally some escape your efforts, and you feel so bad about it, it overshadows all the good you forgot you'd done.
Anybody here who wants training to go independent, just talk to the Jedis' mom.
So how grown up are those boys now?
Was it you two who started the Kosovo packages just before Christmas in, was it '99? My son and I so enjoyed putting together a package then. I need to get off line and get busy with it!!
