First of all, I kind of doubt that if every spectator at the race on the infield flies a flag that the race promoter will kick them all out (they have no balls)
and secondly, how about we not fly the Confederate flag on the 4th of July? The 4th of July is the birthday of the USA, not the CSA....
First of all, it was the union flag that was flying. Secondly, this is a concerted effort from NASCAR that has been going on for years to whitewash anything Southern from the sport. Ban all flags then they can't be blamed for being the regionalists they are. I bet the France family would feel right at home if they just moved all of NASCAR to Vermont. The way they're going, sooner or later it will be.
You have a point. Also, flying the Confederate battle flag at anytime is subject to controversy. It offends many people, especially black people.
But there is another side to that coin.
When you live down here and you see all those Stars & Stripes being flown, after a while it tends to piss you off.
We are as patriotic as anybody. Certainly more than most people from New England, California, or Washington. It's just that that is a Yankee flag.
You understand that?
There is a natural tendency to want to raise the Stars & Bars. That's not to offend anyone. just to assert that this is the South, and those very valiant gentlemen should never have come down here.
How about.....NO. We'll fly our battle flag any dang time we please. You don't like it....well, tuff #%$@.
1] There had to be a USA, or there could not have been a CSA - unless you consider that the USA was originally a confederation!
2] Most of the arguements put forth by the CSA were identical to those put forth by the colonies when they seceeded from England.
3] The revolution was fought in the south as well as in the north, by southerners as well as northerners [although they had less to gain]. And
4] A confederate flag today is not the slightest suggestion that its owner is less ready to fight for the USA than anyone else, in fact, he or she is more apt to elect a military career. In fact, from your tagline you should have figured that out by now.
