The police in Queensland are investigating what appears to be terrorist training camps in bushland near Brisbane, after a chance discovery by a family on a bush walk.
Several 20-litre drums full of suspected bomb-making ingredients and photos of men in paramilitary uniforms were found buried at the edge of the Enoggera Reservoir, in Brisbane's north-western suburbs.
The drums also contained canisters of white powder, weapons, videotapes, maps and food.
A Queensland Police task force and bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and police are now analysing the contents of the drums and the powder.
I'd be interested in the ethnicity of the folks in the pictures that were found. Something tells me they weren't WASPs or WASAs.
Or aborigines.
What is a WASA, please?
Don't know. Australia has a large Arab/Muslim community. They've had problems with both converts (David Hicks- the "Australian Taliban" and a Frenchman named Willie Brigitte) and Arab or Indonesian Muslim extremists.
Also you have had some far-right types like our Montana Freemen.
BTW, the Australian outback would be a good place for terrorist training camps, given the amount of empty space. Aum Shinrikyo (the Japanese cult that carried out a chemical attack in the Tokyo subway) had land there where they seem to have tested WMD's.
White Anglo-Saxon Anglicans. I figured they were too close to Roman Catholics to be called WASPs, and were likely to be pretty common in Oz, so I made that up on the spot.
;-)
Thanks FP.
"That's not a bomb."

"THAT'S a bomb."

Pa Ping.
Near Enoggera? Well that's pretty stupid. That's Brisbane's nearest Army base.
Of course, if it's a military threat bigtime, then RAAF is on standby!
I'm serious, guys and gals. Australia is your forward guard... and we ARE ON ALERT!
Cheers,
KJ
Riley, in this case that is not funny.
Over and out.
