KERRY CHOSE ILLIGITIMACY FOR HIS OWN GIRLS (wife suicidal during Kerry divorce)
Crosswalk.com ^ | July 2, 2004 | Kevin McCullough-World Net Daily columnist

John Kerry is a man full of contradiction.

In 1995, already divorced from his first wife Julia Thorne, John Kerry pressed for an annulment.

He didn't bother to tell Ms. Thorne. The church simply informed her by way of a letter that this was the case.

Ms. Thorne had been severely depressed and near suicide when Kerry walked out on her, and in pressing for an annulment he cast his daughters into the bizarre state of illigimacy. (one of them was still a teenager at the time)

Compare that with the Jack Ryan Illinois Senate case where both parents were arguing to keep the records sealed so that their 9 year old son could be spared the embarassment of unsubstantiated allegiations.

Apologies if this has been posted previously, but this is the first time I have heard of it and one of my first posts.

I say leave this whole divorce thing alone. It's not going to win any new votes. It's old and apparently he and his first wife are good friends now. It serves no purpose. I felt that way about the Ryan case and I think it's important to tbe consistant.

Seems the allegations were substantiated.

The Catholic Church doesn't teach that children from annulled marriages are illegitimate.

You dont think there is some traction to be gained from Kerry walking out on his mentally ill spouse with teenage kids and leaving her via a letter from the church?

I agree with you. American voters hate this stuff especially in presidential elections. This will work against Bush if we they don't watch out and Kerry will win the sympathy vote.

You're exactly wrong. This is exactly the kind of issue that will stir up emotions and get people to hate Kerry. So let's hope more and more of this kind of information is dredged up. Whatever it takes.

Kerry selfishly made his children illegitimate in order to obtain a phoney annulment for his political ambitions. He's scum. Sheeple love this kind of stuff cause they can understand it.

I agree. This doesn't put us in the best light. Leave his personal family life alone. There's MORE than enough public policy stuff for us to attack John Kerry on...more than enough.

I think that is the authors definition of a broken home, not the Catholic church.

Not to defend John Kerry but your headline is not true. Annullment does not in any way affect the legitimacy of the children born to an annulled marriage.

They do not love it, they resent it and the people who peddle it look sleazey. I wouldn't touch this stuff with a 10 ft pole.

...Ms. Thorne had been severely depressed and near suicide when Kerry walked out on her...

Wouldn't you be if you were married to that guy?

I'll bet she started getting better immediately.

Didn't that creep Michael Kennedy--the one who had a hard encounter with a tree while skiing--do the same thing to his wife? But she fought the annulment.

Massachusetts Catholics are a breed apart.

I think you're wrong. And it does not become us. I'm all for fighting down and dirty, but we have enough politically that we don't have to go and drag his first wife through it again.

Now we understand why Teresa said she would give up all her money to have her first husband back! Maybe she realizes that old Lurch wasn't such a great catch after all.

If it was good enough for Newt Gingrich, it's good enough for John Kerry.

Nope. The religious annulment did not effect the legitimacy of his children. It's a carnard.
