***Here's A Way To Make The Liberals REALLY Look Foolish Re: The Rebuilding of Independent Iraq***

Iraq is now independent, Saddam has been deposed, Bush is heading for re-election, and the liberals who hate Freedom for the Iraqis are having palipations. As for that final group, IMHO, here is a good way to FIX THEIR WAGONS for good.

Operational Premise: Anti-Bush, Anti-American types like MoveOn.org, D.U. and A.N.S.W.E.R. have claimed for two or more years that they care only for the Iraqi PEOPLE and this is why they have steadfastly opposed George Bush on warring in Iraq, forceably removing Saddam Hussein.

(They remind me of the "internacionalistas", liberal Westerners who flooded Nicaragua in the 1980s to assist "the PEOPLE" through many different social programs, but primarily as a means to prop up the Communist Sandinistas. When the Communist regime fell from power through elections, many of these international leftists left Nicaragua, such was their shallow, agenda-based phony "care for the People of Nicaragua."

a) Free Republic establish five or so non-partisan, non-political HUMANITARIAN N.G.O. groups operating in Iraq right now, who are cooperating with the new Iraqi goverment, and who accept donations, who also are rebuilding schools, hospitals, and other facilities.

b)Free Republic members challenge the members of MoveOn.Org or A.N.S.W.E.R. (who are so concerned about the well being, livelihood and peace of the Iraqi people) to match Free Republican members DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR in a Competitive Campaign to donate funds to these organizations.

c) The "contest" can be professionally monitored by a reputable, mainline American Public Accountant Firm.

d) A deadline of one-month can be declared.

e) Wide press coverage of such a "contest" of the left vs. the right over Iraq, can be solicited.

[A few Iraqi N.G.O. Assistance groups to receive donations, who are in the field, who are apolitical, and are REALLY committed to rebuilding Iraq, making it stable and helping it's people, which is also the goal of the New Iraqi Government and the US Embassy in Baghdad, are for example]:

"IRAQ DEVELOPMENT FORUM"

"MEDICAL AID FOR IRAQI CHILDREN"

"OPERATION IRAQI CHILDREN"

"HELPING IRAQI SCHOOLS"

"INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE"

Any thoughts?

Here is a way to both help Iraq ourselves, and also challenge our adversaries, and see if they ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE, or they ignore it and show themselves as only being opposed to Bush and in de-facto support of the fallen Ba'athist Regime, nary a concern for Iraq's future.

Who do the leftists and anti-Bush folks line up with? The Peaceful and Democratic Future of Iraq? Or with the terrorists, the Tyrants of the Past, the beheaders who wish to destroy everything?

I for one am quite curious.

The way I see it, things must be doing quite well in Iraq because liberals here are on a rampage today.

Thanks.

I realize the above is just an outline. The details would have to be worked out, such as credibly being able to tabulate the donations. But I think we conservatives and lovers of Freedom worldwide, should from time to time issue DIRECT CHALLENGES to the enemy, and hit him hard and in his own camp and on his own soil (utilizing the press in the process) all the while achieving a greater good for Mankind.

And, isn't that the "FR" Way? Thanks again.

What is all this talk about "rebuilding schools?"

Did we actually destroy a lot of schools?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I didn't really see much of that.  I know the photos of the wounded children were circulated, but that was about it.
I was always stunned by the grotesque nationalism on the left, implying that Iraqis are worthless, the disgusting indifference to the torture of men, women and children and the genocide.
Hmmm... beligerantly nationalistic, in favor of heavy government intervention into both business and private lives, revultion to democracy... What word is that reminding me of?

Schools are being rebuilt and have had to be rebuilt, textbooks have had to been increased. Saddam made a bloody mess of that situation.

If I know FR, there will be agreement with the general idea, and then very strong critiques and criticism of the sub elements, which will help us hone it down and make it do-able. That's the value, IMHO.

Have you forgotten the human shields, who would give their very liberal LIVES for the average Iraqi civilians they claimed to love, and yet have disappeared now that there is nothing to fight for (even if there as such minor, irrtating issues to them such as building up Iraq and bringing democracy)??

So we are rebuilding schools that weren't damaged by us? That's cool. I wish the press would point that out.

I have friends who's daughter is a Captain in the Army, serving in Iraq and her fiancee is a Captain in the USMC, also serivng in Iraq. They're putting together a project to help Iraqi school kids. My friends are putting a web site up to explain the project and to solicit help. They're looking for school supplies, kids clothes, etc. I'll post the link as soon as I can get it.

Using schools for ammunition storage and bomb making tends to wreck them pretty thoroughly.

IN most cases, no, the Iraqi soldiers hid ammo, weapons and used the schools as bases and such, they also did serious damage to them.

In some cases, we did, but considering they were being used for the above stated purposes, and then some, we did what had to be done to protect troops.

Some liberals will disagree, but I think its better to destroy a school, being used by soldiers (obviousley kids weren't there in those cases) and rebuild it later, then let soldiers die by allowing those schools to be used as some kind of holy ground sanctuary.

Sadly, the mosques were and are used the same way, but we have avoided at all costs destroying them.

I think I can guess where they line up... ;'D
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
