Then why, when I call the City Office for an absentee ballot, they send one out to me? If my vote isn't counted, what's the use?
Wouldn't they tell me?
What about disabled people who can't make it to the polls?
Your tagline says *do something*. I say, start at home.
It is counted, I just brought up the armed services abroad because their votes weren't counted in '00 thanks to Algore.
Of course it smelled of agenda.
My tagline says:
(Please register to vote! We can't afford to remain silent!!)
I AM registered to vote. And have been for quite some time. I never miss an election.
If you're not going to the polls, you're missing them. Espcially if you live in the liberal New England area.
OMG! Thank you SO much. I am on the verge of tears here from the pounding I am taking from Ghost in the Machine and SendShaqtoIraq!!!!!! They are telling me that my absentee vote does NOT count. And I have been sending in my absentee ballot for several years now.
I just emailed a close friend of mine who is a Maine Representative to ask them if my absentee ballot is counted or not.
I don't like to dwell on this, but the reason I send in an absentee ballot is because I am semi-disabled. These two guys seem to think there is shame in this. :(
I, too, had a fit when Florida refused to count our overseas military absentee ballots. They came up with all kinds of reasons: wrong information.........received too late, yada yada yada. It's funny you didn't hear me screaming from here!
Thanks, EGPWS. Your a good Freeper. I like you!
I witnessed the "Florida Effect" in Florida; and it almost cost Bush the presidency.
The only people who should use absentee ballots (and this was the reason that started this ballot) were Military and people who were out of the country for whatever reason. It wasn't meant for you not to go to the polling booth. That's when we get the results after the polling booths are closed.
I will wait until I hear from the Maine Representative, thank you.
They have to be processed. There are other issues on the ballot.
You pay your money, and you take your chance. Don't cry when your vote hist the trash can, OK?
Can I put that up on a billboard? That's the most "Oh, please Government, come help me?" line I've had all day...
Like I said, I asked, you lied. Simple as that.
: )
(profusely blushing with personal gratification)....
Forget the absentee concerns and get on with more of your great posts!
You're right about the absentees for the different propositions on the ballot, but those really aren't needed as quickly as the Presidential Ballot. The absentee propositions vote can be counted overnight to reach the papers in the morning.
Which makes it very important for as many of us to be at the polls:
Reporting vote fraud is even better when you work there:

Smells of liberal jargon wreaking at FR.
I worked the polls in So. Cal. for many years.
Yes, you are correct. She sits there, wanting a representative (hah!) to come to her rescue, when all she has to do is go maybe, what, 5 blocks, and VOTE. Cripes, I feel so Michael Mooreish.
I just recently learned that my democrat uncle voted in the last Presidential election and then returned to my dead grandfather's polling place and voted again in his name. What an A-hole. Then again, I live in Massachusetts, so I guess I can't expect things to ever get better.
If the poster was right about not counting absentees, it would make sense. You have an election and the election day votes give X for Bush and Y for Kerry. If there are fewer than |X-Y| votes, then they won't matter anyway. It makes sense to save money. It costs a lot to count those ballots statewide. This allows them to count absentees for races that count.
