"WASHINGTON (AFP) - Several members of the House of Representatives have requested the United Nations (news - web sites) to send observers to monitor the November 2 US presidential election to avoid a contentious vote like in 2000, when the outcome was decided by Florida.

Recalling the long, drawn out process in the southern state, nine lawmakers, including four blacks and one Hispanic, sent a letter Thursday to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) asking that the international body "ensure free and fair elections in America," according to a statement issued by Florida representative Eddie Bernice Johnson, who spearheaded the effort..."

Perhaps we should drop "'Rats" and start calling them the "Lemming Party."

I like it..
Instead of dimocRATs they can be...
lemmiRATs.

Daffynishun: LemmiRAT..a soon to be extinct specie of self destructive congenitally lying organism with two mouths so it can talk on both sides of all issues.

Thanks, B4 Ranch. Is this the list of 9 who wrote the letter to Annan? Would you please give a source?

The original Yahoo article gave the wrong State for EB Johnson. Someone on this thread has mentioned that Rush also erred on Johnson's State.

It's time to start writing letters.

Thanks again.

Wish I could as well. Laughter would help, but somehow it's just not happening.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOo glad that I live far enough west on I-20 that RATS like Jackass-Lee and Johnson and RINO Ron Paul wouldn't THINK of coming out there. W. Texas for the most part VERY GOP. To the point that to include Laredo as part of W. Texas so they can brag they get support out there! LOL!

Wasn't it jackson-Lee that invited Syria's dictator/leader to the Capitol as her "guest" earlier this year? No wonder they like the U.N. It's been supporting terrorists for 50 years!

"I thought Texans knew how to take care of folks like this."

We do our best to keep them in one area down in S. E. Texas. Though they DO sometimes get out of their cage!

Bush Sr didn't say anything about giving up US soverignity to one world government(UN). It was an international group effort to kick Saddam out of Kuwait. You have to remember the Soviet Union collasped around 1989, it changed the whole international landscape. So Bush Sr said "New World Order."

This woman who thinks the UN should come into our country to supervise our elections should work for the UN. Don't be a US congresswoman. If you don't love the US, leave it!

What's the likelihood the band of 9 a) read the results of that study b) understood what they read and c) would be willing to admit the study's reliability and its veracity?

Yeah, doncha love how they never come out and say these are Dems? Oh, well, it's AFP.

I say, bring on the UN and send them to Chicago, Philadelphia and the reservations in South Dakota.

"that the 'disenfranchisement of Florida's voters fell most harshly on the shoulders of black voters' and in poor counties."

Palm Beach county? LOL!
