Being a single mother makes it difficult to find a mate —even when you're Nicole Kidman.
"I'm hoping to meet someone and be happy with them. But that's not as easy as it sounds. I'm a 37-year-old woman with two children. Men aren't beating a path to my door," she said in an interview published Wednesday in the latest issue of Now magazine.
"I don't want to sound like a woman from a lonely hearts club and I don't want to advertise. The children are my priority. I take them around with me — movies or baseball games or local shows — and that's not so appealing for any new man on the scene, is it?" she said.
The Oscar-winning star of "The Hours" has been single since breaking up with rock star Lenny Kravitz (news) earlier this year.
She denied rumors that she might get back together with ex-husband Tom Cruise (news), with whom she split in 2001. The pair share custody of their children, 11-year-old Isabella and 9-year-old Connor.
"That whole part of my life is over and done with. We'll always be in contact because of our children," she said. "But I'm single and there's no one out there for me at the moment."
Kidman, who recently starred in a remake of "The Stepford Wives," also wanted to dash speculation that she's suffering from an eating disorder. She has looked painfully thin in recent photographs, but said her hairstyle was to blame.
"I've been wearing it up a lot lately and that seems to make my face look smaller and make my body look even thinner," she explained. "When I wear it down ... then my boy-like figure looks a little fuller. That's the only explanation I can come up with."
And yet, women turn around and become pen pals with death row inmates and hang out with Hell's Angels and the like. They must have different standards for "guys I want to marry" than they do "guys I want for the excitement".
I heard the same "rumor"!! Now, wouldn't THAT match be some kind of rodeo!!!!!?????

Nicole is Roman Catholic. It was Tom Cruise who was the Scientologist, and Nicole objected to the children becoming involved with it. Acc. to reports I've read, Nicole takes the kids to mass.

She tried to take his parking space. After that she felt run down all the time.
I thought Tom dumped her because she got pregnant and supposedly lost the baby. He suspected it wasn't his because he can't have kids and she supposedly had a miscarriage (possibly abortion to get rid of the affair evidence and save the marriage but it was too late). I guess that was just a rumor.
The upkeep would ruin you. This is a quirky and very high maintenance model that can lock up and blue-screen you at any moment. Can you imagine shopping for wallpaper with her?
True, but she's not looking for guys - I mean, guys like him.
That might depend on whether the "party" was over and done with, eh? ;-)
I find her attractive, but the fact that she seems to like men like Tom Cruise and Lenny Kravitz, proves to me that she has personality problems.
If your voice has changed you are too old for her.
Beauty, contrary to popular belief, comes from the inside rather than the outside. Any 37 year old woman who would abuse a 10 year old is NOT beautiful.
And if any "normal" guy did, she would tell them exactly what Anna Kournikova said: "You couldn't afford me!"
A real man would understand that her priorities should be the children.
