Following is the message from the family of Kim Sun-il, slain Korean hostage in Iraq, during the funeral held in a gym in Pusan on Wednesday. _ ED.
Faced with the tragic news of from Iraq thousands of miles away, we, Kim Sun-il's brothers and sisters, cried out all night and our father and mother fainted and fell to the ground again and again.
When we were told of what Sun-il endured from the kidnapping to death, our heart-wrenching grief turned into uncontainable rage. We thought that our family's rage could somehow speak for his unjust death.
But Sun-il did not die. He did not leave our side forever. We have Sun-il's dream with us, which did not die. His dream was to love and forever embrace the nation of Iraq, even at the risk of death.
The moment we learned of Sun-il's dream, for which he was willing to sacrifice his life, we realized that we could not speak for his heart with only grief and rage. Our rage began to subside.
Just as Sun-il loved Iraq to his death, all of us embrace and love Iraq with his love. And we want to tell you today on Sun-il's behalf that his very dream was for all of us to love Iraq and its people.
We want to tell you that the dream blossoming in Sun-il's heart was Korea's love for Iraq, the world's love for Iraq and our love for each other by becoming one. And we want to tell you that this dream was birthed by God's love for all humanity.
At this place where we now send Sun-il to heaven, at this place where we now part with Sun-il forever while we are on this earth, we cross the river of grief and pain to profess these things with trembling voices. We want to weep, but instead we profess with joy:
We embrace the nation of Iraq. We love the people of Iraq.
Quite a contrast to Berg's dad. Very touching.
The difference is one is a family of believers, the other not. One believes they will see their loved one again, the other believes death is the end.
Spirit unstained by dogma.
They also place the proper perspective on what their son was doing there. He was there on his own, not sent their by his government. Berg's dad just can't quite separate that fact. Bush did not force his son to go to Iraq; stop blaming Bush for his death.
This family knows what their son was doing, who killed him, and whom not to blame. It is impressive.
From OCP (one Christian's perspective), I can see why the leftists want to get rid of any reference to God and to Jesus...because people like this man's family don't fit their agenda.
Their thinking is "You mean, someone who volunteered to go somewhere gets killed, and the family doesn't blame Bush and Rumsfeld, and actually forgives those who did this heinous act? Nothing to see here...MOVE ON."
Briefly, I'm reminded of a missionary to India, a country which I've visited five times since January 2000. He was a missionary from Australia, with his wife, two young sons and a daughter. One night, after a service or something, he and his two sons went to their car, to get some sleep before the next day's events. I think they were going to go home in the morning to freshen up, it was too late to wake up the wife and daughter.
They never made it home. Late in the night, Hindu extremists came to the car, blocked the man (Graham Staines, for reference) and his kids in the car, and set it on fire, burning them alive. Those who tried to help were either restrained or beaten.
The wife said that she totally forgave those who killed her husband and sons. The daughter said that something to the effect that she was glad to know that her father was counted as worthy to die for the cause of Christ. She was 13 years old at the time.
That would NEVER...EVER...fit the leftist agenda.
Just my $0.02
(p.s. I don't know if it is sold here in the States, but there is a book on this, called "Burnt Alive". You might find reference to it on Google, or your favorite search engine.)
I'd love to see aljazeera putting this letter out.

...The one thing the LOVE Itself needs...
...is more LOVE.
.
Exactly. They do not grieve and mourne as those without hope. This, to me, is an example of the Love of Christ dwelling within his family.
Yeah OK ... but I still want to see the ROK Army do a Ghengis Khan on Falluja, burn it to the ground and put its citizens heads on pikes.
Speaking of Berg's Father, I was getting a manicure yesterday and watching TV there when that Berg character started speaking. I just blurted out "SHUT UP" (I thought I was at home). After some awkward silence, the other customers nodded their heads to me and told me they agreed with me.
How incredibly beautiful. These people are good to their very core. May God bless and comfort them.
Excellent... it is so wonderful to see that people with a conscience are starting to get some courage again. We have cowered in the presence of the e-lites for far too long.
I saw a comic the other day on pookie18's threads where the definition of e-lite is education-lite. I am enjoying that.
