I get the opposite slant, that the election is all but over, but in favor of President Bush.
Let me share something with you. I work in a medium sized non-profit organization.... a breeding ground for liberals. One such lib that I exchange political views with has said that her 'friends' are worried about Kerry. A few months ago she thought the election was 'all but over' but not any more. I see the trend towards Bush and I think that's what this 'cryptic comment' was inferring.
14. The White House has some carefully planned and perfectly appropriate August/September/October surprises up its sleeve.
15. The Kitty Kelley book.
16. No matter how many times they try to deny it, Democrats are trying to talk down the economic recovery.
17. No matter how many times they try to deny it, Republicans are planning to tactically use gay marriage to influence certain voting groups.
18. No matter how many cute quotes Gene Sperling can come up with, if employment, personal income, and consumer confidence are on the rise in a given battleground state, Senator Kerry needs to find something else to talk about.
The top dems who have incited the hatred should (but won't) be held accountable.
The media will blame it on Bush saying that he is a divider not a uniter.
Couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the directions were printed on the sole.
"Smart DemocRAT" is an oxymoron. Kinda like "happily married."
On a related "Today" show topic: WTF happened to the Perky one's face? I was flipping thru the channels this morning and passed by something that looked like Katie Couric after 8 rounds with a young Mike Tyson.
Gee, I wonder if she'll get the lead spot on "60 Minutes" to promote it . . .
Having talked with some local rats, they are furious with Kerry for failing to pick a VP. They feel he is showing himself to be terminally indecisive and is also hurting his campaign since the VP candidate could be campaigning as well.
"This election's not over, we're going to win!"
Geraldine Ferraro, 1984
anyone know what Kitty Kelly book they listed here?
"The media will blame it on Bush saying that he is a divider not a uniter."
Exactly. The media wants this to happen. In fact, I wouldn't doubt that there are already liberal activist groups (ELF and other Indymedia anarchy types) who will make plans for violence.
Gee, I thought it might be saying just the opposite.
In the one point it says that the Dems are sure of the outcome, but then in point #7 it says:
7. Most Democrats are fraidy cats who don't think in their hearts they can win the White House or, if they win it, don't think they can hold it for any length of time and/but John Kerry is an conspicuous exception to this.
So when I put those two points together, I got the impression that if the Dems were sure of the outcome, and most Dems are fraidy cats who don't think in their hearts they can win the White house (except Kerry of course), that the logical result would be they were sure Bush would win.
In June 1988, Mike Dukakis(*) was up by 14 points over GHW Bush.
In July 1988, Dukakis's lead increased to 17 points.
(In August(?), little boy Mike had his picture taken in a big 'ol tank with a wittle hat on...)
On Election Day 1988, GHW Bush beat Dukakis by over 7 points.
Bush will win in a landslide.
that many?
Bumper sticker seen recently on I-75 north of Atlanta:
"How many times can a flip-flop flop before a flip-flop turns into a flop?" John F'ing Kerry? No F'ing way!"
I believe this race is Bush's to loose, not Kerry's to win.
Click on the Excerpted link not the one under the title
To me that sounds like Kerry will lose--am I projecting???
All but "over" is a lot different than all but "won."
Aha! Someone else who actually read the entire article instead of relying on the poster's take-away. Fascinating! :-)
