Nebraska therapist loses license after allegedly firing a handgun at a memo that angered him
The Associated Press OMAHA, Neb. The Nebraska Health and Human Services system has revoked the license of a North Platte therapist accused of firing a handgun at a memo that angered him.
Robert Powers, a mental health practitioner and professional counselor, got upset when he received a memo last summer saying only the manager of his office would have the key to certain supply drawers, according to state documents.
Powers took the memo and shot it several times with a .22-caliber handgun before returning it to the office, the document says.
Two days later, he reportedly called the office secretary and said he was too angry to return to work because he "might shoot somebody."
The comment prompted several co-workers to seek protection orders against him.
The state revoked Powers' license to practice as a counselor or therapist on the grounds of unprofessional conduct.
LOL!
Sadistically sending people to web pages that are guaranteed to melt minds or generate weird facial expressions has been a favorite thing of mine to do.
(Like sending people to www.stickdeath.com or www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail.htm when they get annoying.)
Of course, some people get really mad when I do that, despite the humor behind it. Dunno why.
Now that's MY KIND OF THERAPIST !!!
None of this "here, imagine your dad in this empty chair" kind of wussy gobledegook.
Dude gets pissed, he goes out and shoots up the object of his aggression. They ought to put him in charge of the whole place.
It is obvious to me that you have never had the satisfaction of shooting a memo.
>>some people get really mad when I do that, despite the humor behind it. Dunno why.<<
Simple, because they can't laugh at themselves. Which one of us hasn't taken ourselves too seriously at one time or another?
"Peter, did you get the memo about your TPS reports?"
This is true.
There are times when I have to back off of a trhead because I'm way too angry about something either in thread or in teh subject.
(Like, for example, "Peace" protestors advocating violence against soldiers. I end up seeing red and babbling aphasia over it to the point of being unintelligable.)
Though I've checked out your "Stick of Death" recommendation, I have yet to peruse the other site. Perhaps when I take a break from posting needless public comments to FR.
Sheesh!
Like that'll ever happen!
LOL!
Gotta love Rob Lewis at Stickdeath.
Been tempted to take a pic of the sign that greets you when you get to the area I live in and send it to him.
The sign says, "Welcome to Greenville, Keep it Clean and Green"
(Greenville, and 'greeners' being his terms for punks, terrorists, and generally bad guys killed in effigy via stickfigure animnation.)
LOL!
There's other truly odd stuff I send people to, but cannot remember the sites offhand.
That ought to give you a few interesting ideas for future reference.
Willdo!
I keep my links in such places as a text file and IE/AOL's favorites folders..
I know that you don't live in the City, but if you're ever in Williamsburg/Greenpoint, there's a really cool bar owned by a friend of mine, which I think that you might enjoy.
There's a link to it on that page, if you want to check it out.
WARNING! WARNING!
SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT!
Dunno if I've been out that way before.
Been to Herring's Inn near Watertown NY.
Had the best steak I've ever eaten there.
16Oz steak done perfectly.
Yeah, but next time, take it out to a shooting range.
Your coworkers are all terrified of you now.
You don't take into consideration who is sputtering their shpeel and just ignore it?
There are FReepers with whom I would refuse to debate even which the day of the week it is, because I know how they think and what the results will be. Getting into a name calling argument with someine I have never met isn't what I consider even slightly intelligent.
I am soooo relieved having had the urge to shoot memos in the past. I also shred them and have the oddest satisfied feelings when I do. I hate memos. I think they deserve what they get.
Sometimes difficult.
I live in NY state, and at times the "Peace" protestors just put me over the edge of graciousness.
Having been in the military, having a "Peace" protestor get snotty with me just -don't know a polite term for it but I just get really viciously angry because they claim to represent the usage of our rights and seemingly cannot see why their behavior would end those rights.
So I tend to try to stick to threads here on FR where I can laugh instead.
I have a friend who used to use a stamp for memos he didn't like:
In big letters it read, "BULLSH**!"
He also had one that read,
"Returned without action - Re-submit in 90 days for final disapproval!"
Especially the ones that begin with, "You are required to ..."
Bang!
