Nebraska therapist loses license after allegedly firing a handgun at a memo that angered him
The Associated Press OMAHA, Neb. The Nebraska Health and Human Services system has revoked the license of a North Platte therapist accused of firing a handgun at a memo that angered him.
Robert Powers, a mental health practitioner and professional counselor, got upset when he received a memo last summer saying only the manager of his office would have the key to certain supply drawers, according to state documents.
Powers took the memo and shot it several times with a .22-caliber handgun before returning it to the office, the document says.
Two days later, he reportedly called the office secretary and said he was too angry to return to work because he "might shoot somebody."
The comment prompted several co-workers to seek protection orders against him.
The state revoked Powers' license to practice as a counselor or therapist on the grounds of unprofessional conduct.
My favorite-though this may just be a personal quirk of mine-is the freepers who feel compelled to post a comment back to me-after not communicating with me for the first 2 months of my existence as a "registered" member-telling me what an idiot I am.
I so enjoy those!
My swiftness for posting comments is once again exceeded by my own tendency to over-elaborate.
Done in by my own love for words yet again.
Bah Humbug!

Now that is a firm response!
!!!
Way back in the days when I first signed up, I had a personal nemesis on this forum.
He'd bait people, and then whine when they responded.
He'd do somethign similar, he'd wait for a month or two and then drag anyone he really wanted to bother back to a three month since dead thread for another round.
*chuckle*
He's since been banned, he did some really stupid stuff, but that was why I quit debating anyone.
(He really hated humor, and when humor was used against him he'd freak out spouting nonsense.)
LOL!
Have I sent you my comments about your profile page and the queer start you chose to attract our attention?
>>Okay, that sounded kind of gay.<<
Your choice of musicians/bands, songs, leaves much to be desired. Until I see Marty Robbins in the list I will consider you to be very weird!
>>Favorite musicians/bands, songs, composers; in that order: <<
At some later date I may review the remainder of that page.
Next winter perhaps. LOL
You have my permission to tell us of whom you are referring to.
Powers took the memo and shot it several times with a .22-caliber handgun before returning it to the office, the document says.
"Before returning it to the office..." Where was the memo taken and shot? If to a licensed shooting range, his actions may be unsubtle but I don't see anything actionable about them unless they were accompanied by other verbal or written threats.
I have to disagree with you here; returning the shot-up memo in and of itself is a reasonably actionable threat.
Go ahead and shoot up the memo (in a safe environment - backstop and all) and I would agree that it's No Big Deal. But to return it, holey, to the office is a clearly violent threat.
On that subject I quit the NRA for a while cause they sent me so many memos etc. I had a PO box and just the NRA stuff would fill it in a month.
Asmodeus.
Famous for posting that anyone who disagreed with him and the NTSB report of flight 800 were tinfoil hat kooks and right wing wackos.
Also famous for posting "Expert noun blah blah blah" and refusing to state what his expertise was..
He finally did admit that he worked with crash investigators, whether he was one himself or not was unclear because he said that he was an "Investigator for 50+ years" one time and said "Interviewer for 50+ years" another time.
If anyone needed psychological evaluation or therapy, it would be him.
(Though I don't recommend the genius mentioned in the article!)
It is to laugh!
Ha. Ha.
There's still a lot of stuff that's yet to posted on there.
I was actually thinking about writing a few screeds dealing with the United Nations attempts to infringe upon our national sovereignty, the BLM's ferocious assaults against the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Bill of Rights, and the increasing federalization of private land, but I see that you've got those issues down pat, so I'll take a pass on that one.
There should also be a section dealing with some of my favorite pet topics, coming in the not-too-distant future.
The whole shebang will be covered, including a brief section devoted to my favorite lesbians-Dusty Springfield will probably earn top billing on that one-and a segment devoted to my continuing frustration at the NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority, and their bungled attempts at providing us New Yorkers with some semblance of a functioning transportation system.
If I ever learn how to post photos to this website-an unlikely prospect, but not totally out of the question-I'll also freely devote some space to Jeniffer Conally, Jeniffer Coles, and any other incredibly smokin' babe who shares the first name Jeniffer.
As for your Marty Robbins comments; Yes, I have heard a few of the man's songs-though it was so long ago that I can't recall any specific lyrics-and I do appreciate his talent. However, seeing as how I do not have enough experience listening to his oeuvre, I don't think I can accurately pass judgment on him as a musician. And this is coming from someone who pass' judgment at the drop of a hat, so that's really saying something!
The only possible reply to your critique of my opening comments on that profile page-at least at this very early moment in the morning-is that it was a self-deprecating put-down of my own tendency for bloviation and high-flown rhetoric.
BEWARE THE BLACK TURBAN YAZID!
Bida, bida, bida, That's all folks!!!
good times, D-K, G.J.P. (Jr.)
Now you know how San Andreas felt about it.
Yes.
But oddly it is a strange honor..
I keep goofing around with my bio page, usually making it a surreal nonsensical mess.
So far it's been through three 'transformations'.
One was a weird short story..
..that the bio page flame morons with zero sense of imagination tried to use as flameammo.
"Comic book boy" being one of the favorite slurs such types tossed at me about it.
*chuckle*
I'm the only registered Republican in my family and am subject to being bombarded by direct mail from every possible source and life form on this planet.
Not only do we get feedback from the usual suspects, i.e. Democrat and Republican operatives eager to "earn our support this coming November", but I'm also subjected to endless appeals from every single magazine, book and newspaper publisher, who somehow thinks that the fact that I subscribed to their publication five years ago, yet didn't renew my subscription, is proof positive that I just needed to be reminded of my oversight...FOR THE FIVE HUNDREDTH TIME!
I suspect the part that got him fired is his saying he wasn't coming in to work, because he was so angry he might shoot somebody. Having already returned the perforated paper, I think a comment like that would take on some additional meaning.
Around 10 a.m. Sunday, police said, Doughty entered the bar from his office, announced he was going to shoot his computer and returned to his office. After 30 minutes, police said, Doughty set his laptop on the floor 4 to 6 feet away from him, warned two customers at the bar to cover their ears and fired away. The computer took all the bullets. No one was injured.
Not that I'm Marv Albert or something, don't get me wrong!
I'm just used to the feedback-both negative and positive-and have come to accept it for what it is.
If you want to direct anyone to my profile page, be my guest. I could use the foot-or, to be more accurate, hand-traffic.
BRAAAGGHH! I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR DAMN COMPUTER! WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE? THE @#$*&! WIZARD OF F**** OZ?(!) AAAAAAARRRGGGGHHH! I'M SICK AND TIRED OF DEALING WITH YOU FREAKIN' IMBECILES. I'M GOING TO THE GUN RANGE FOR A LITTLE TARGET PRACTICE! AAAAARRRGGHHH! YOU GOD**** LUDDITE, KEYBOARD-TAPPING, CUBICLE-MONKEYS MAKE ME SICK!
I don't see the problem.... ;-)
