A belated good job to ya! I missed it on the morning shows, because I don't watch. Jon Stewart (liberal) and Collin Quinn (opposite viewpoint) have their spins on today's news on cable Comedy Central news in the evening late night.
I watch them for fun, because I pretty know what's what. I know Stewart is on the other side of this, but he is funny; plus I absolutely LOVE watching Collin Quinn. Not only is he a hoot - but he's a diehard Republican and he speaks his mind. Funny too!!
And before anyone MIGHT think, these are places that I OBTAIN MY NEWS - not, not not.
That's just for fun. However, it's really scary to know, that according to news pollsters, that most young folks rely on late night TV for the NEWS!!!!

Well, I'm late seeing this, but maybe you need to be a little more 'creative' for CNN, like taking your sign, and putting a false front on it that says something like "Bring our boys home" or "Bush Sucks" on it to get them to let you be front and center, and then flipping that page out of the way, and having your 'real' message underneath... Might be a way to fake them out!

For the goons that took the sign, maybe something like a nylon string loop with part of the loop going around the sign with tape, and another part of the loop through the sleeves of a jacket, so it can't be physically separated by a push.
(Were they tv station goons? The push seemed pretty obvious on TV.)
For the CNN security problem, have you considered making a bunch of small signs, smuggling them in with false fronts, and then fitting them together later on and taking the false fronts off?
