Hmmmmmmmm..........unusual for Mayor Daley to forego appearance with a Democratic candidate (for such a high office). Kerry spoke to a group including Je$$e Jack$on/Rainbow Push, in Chicago!?? This just reported via WLS radio here in Chicago, and the reporter who covered Kerry's speaking engagement also thought it was weird that Daley was a "no-show". The report went on to say that Daley DID issue a statement today, IN PRAISE of President Bush, saying that his accomplishments in Iraq cannot go unrecognized and that Bush has done a very admirable job, in Daley's opinion.
The report said that Bush has been co-operating with da mayor in the O'Hare airport expansion project, which is worth billions.......but I have always sensed that Daley actually likes and respects President Bush, ALOT!!! Anyone familiar with Chicago politics knows, this could be a big plus for Bush, should Daley back away from Kerry and find a way to endorse Bush but fall short of actually endorsing him, if ya know what I mean. Anyone hear this same info. and think the same things??
Daley violated federal law I believe in sending bulldozers, unannounced, to tear up one of the alternative Chicago airports.
Was Daley at the Mayprs meeting in Boston yesterday?..The one that Kerry skipped because of the pickets...maybe this is payback?
Didn't Kerry not attend a conference of mayors this week? Might be revenge.
I just don't think Kerry's going to be the Dem candidate by election time. I think he'll make it through the convention, but I think he'll have "health issues." Several of us were speculating about that very thing yesterday...

Just not coming out by now in support for Kerry says much about Daley's opinion of Kerry. If Daley does imply in any way that he supports Bush, Kerry may just as well pack his bags and head to France, where he would be considered an American hero.
Daley has had "praise" (thru Dim filter of course) for the President before this. He either likes what Bush is doing or the angle about the airport funding is key.
Can't believe Daley would do anything except for the money or benefit to himself and the Chicago Democrat Machine.

Sumpin' unusual going on here, Either a honest Dem along the lines of Lieberman( before you flame me- I use term "honest" in a loose sense) who sees the terrorists as a greater enemy than Repubs or there's some really bad blood between Daly and Theresa's Toy Poodle. Too bad this news won't see the same press coverage as it would were it about Bush and a Repub mayor(even if the Repub mayor was over a hamlet, much less a major city as Chicago.) By the way, remember the press coverage given to the Dem mayor of Crawford, Texas who said he did not support W.
This is true, but any opposition to Herr Daley are beaten senseless and left to clean washrooms at O'Hare for the remainder of their lives!
Politics in Illinois already strange are becoming more strange with Madigan and Gov BloJo slugging it out with each other. It's been very interesting to watch.

For the benefit of those who may be too young to remember this..One of the great scenes from the 68 Dem convention in Chicago was CT Sen Ribicoff, at the dais, denouncing the "gestapo" tactics of the Chicago PD, while Mayor Daley..(the current Chicago mayor's father) was seen in the audience yelling at Ribicoff and giving him the finger...

It is more likly to be payback for appearing in front of Jesse Jackson's group, no one has ever described the relationship between Jackson and Daley as good.
