It is shocking to me that Americans in a time of war, and we literally are at war with Americans being deliberately killed in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere by Islamic terrorists, will attack their own country, sapping its strength and making its enemies stronger. I am not a supporter of the xenophobic slogan My country right or wrong. But I do believe, when seeking to make it right if it is wrong, that none of us should endanger the country, our military personnel or our fellow citizens.
Disagreeing with Americas foreign policy and seeking to change it, responsibly or irresponsibly, is a fundamental right protected by the First Amendment. Shaming those who do it irresponsibly is our only lawful recourse and rightly so.
Senator John Kerry in criticizing United States foreign policy and the incumbent president is acting responsibly, albeit I disagree with many of his views. On the other hand, Michael Moore, writer and director of the film Fahrenheit 9/11, crosses that line regularly. The line is not set forth in the criminal statutes, but it is determined by Americans who know instinctively what actions and statements taken and uttered violate the obligations of responsibility and citizenship they deem applicable in time of war.

Most rabid libs don't have the attention span to read it!
The last several articles quoting Koch are driven by wisdom and understanding. Took him a lifetime, but he has seen the light.
I wish Michael Moore would errantly walk into a room full of US Marines.

Moore IS definitely one of the scum of the earth. No doubt about it.
Well, we're just going to have to get as many people as possible to spread the word. Where is Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly when you need them? Why don't they have the ex-Mayor Koch on their Radio / TV Shows?
Is there anyone out there who can get this story to someone who can "take it and run with it"? I'm not sure just how big of an audience World Tribune.com has.
GO EDDIE GO!!!
Speaking of one who with more than ordinary boldness attacked publick measures and the royal family, he said, "I think he is safe from the law, but he is an abusive scoundrel; and instead of applying to my Lord Chief Justice to punish him, I would send half a dozen footmen and have him well ducked."
Boswell's Life of Johnson
'Cept in this case, those 'Jews' happen to be armed to the teeth.
LOL. Can you imagine a scenario where liberals declare war on conservatives right before they flee to Canada?
actually, that's what college humanities and social science programs are producing--people emoting on cue.
a "liberal arts education" no longer produces people who think.
if high schools and colleges required economics, the liberal left would eventually dwindle.
Well, in fairness, Koch is reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy long winded. Have you read his autobiography? He'll go on for pages discribing tiny negotiations and such in labor disputes.
That said, still a good read.
Koch belongs to an endangered species of liberal:
the patriotic liberal. This species is wrong on many domestic issues, but intellectually honest and genuinely desirous to provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty.
The population of patriotic liberals has been in decline for decades, largely due to its marginalization by the Democratic Party.
I like Medved, but just cannot stand his radio show. He has two approachs. One is to bring on all sorts of Leftist kooks, giving them a forum to spout their trash. The other is to state his (Medved's) views on a topic, then ask for people who disagree with him to call in.
The end results is that he always seems to be discussing and debating Leftist premises, and he doesn't really do a good job of countering them. In the meantime, there's never much room on his show for people with centrist or right-of-center views.
Koch knows that Jacques LeDoom is clueless.
Funny you should mention that.
I was at a HS grad party on Sat, and in a conversation with a grad I said, "a liberal arts education is for s*it these days". "why not business, eng, econ, ect."?
And he said, "that goes against everything I believe in".
I almost laughed in his face, but I calmly said "get back with me in 10 years".
Later, he walked up to me and said he knew what I meant, and he would think about it.
I was stunned that no adult had ever suggested this to him.
How sad.
Koch needs to look up the meaning of "xenophobic." But, in these times of political correctness, all these cool lefty catchword terms just run into each other: xenophobic, ethnocentric, patriotic, ... they're all equally bad.
The libs just cannot tolerate or understand the concept of devotion to the interests of one's own nation. The "hate America first" philosophy has become a mainstream theme among all lefties. Even Koch is caught up in this nonsense.
I wish Koch was speaking at the GOP Convention!
