I agree with Nancy Grace: Scott probably made two trips to the marina, one late on the 23rd -- thus explaining the date on the fishing license and second time to tidy up things.
Upon further inspection, it appears that SP was issued a
2003 Two-Day Sport Fishing License to cover two days, Dec.23 & Dec.24, in 2002. Same thing with the Ocean Enhancement Stamp. Both of the serial numbers match those recorded on the cash register receipt dated 12/20/02 at approximately 3:49 PM. Since these items were retrieved by MPD on 12/27/02 I guess it would be safe to say the clerk at Big 5 goofed up.
Who knows, maybe the same careless clerk advised SP on which enhancement stamps to buy. That would explain that part of the equation, hope they call the clerk to testify. If the clerk testifies that SP wanted the license and enhancement stamps to fish in SF Bay on Dec.23 and 24th, premeditation would be easier to prove.
So on Dec. 20th he planned to go fishing in the ocean south of Vandenburg Air Force Base on Dec. 23rd and/or 24th.Hey, did everyone get that?
