"Grass-roots political Internet sites have been springing up since the 2001 terrorist attacks."
Political debate is painful for the left, I realise. They end up looking childish, especially when you can cut-and-paste factoids word-for-word with ease.
Er, more research is needed. For example, how can I have a screen name dating back to '97? Move-on [with more minucia] was formed later to oppose impeachment of Clinton. I guess they have a forum, although hadn't found it yet. I wanted to do some fifth column activity there.

"Political debate is painful for the left, I realise. They end up looking childish" I found this line to be especially telling:
"while those on the left use common curses to describe people on the right as fascists."
....which basically means that they don't debate....they name call. We may do that too, but at least we substantiate our claims.

The left can't get anyone to buy into their agenda in an honest debate. Seriously, if someone went up to you and tried to convince you that:
- paying high taxes was good,
- having your country and its allies militarily weak was good,
- having energy shortages due to overzealous environmental regulation was good,
- being dependent upon the government for your employment and overall economic survival was good,
- having forest fires due to aforementioned overzealous environmental regulations was good,
- killing evil men in evil regimes was bad and therefore letting the people they persecute die was good,
- giving up private property rights was good,
- letting armed criminals beat/rape/murder you or your loved ones rather than arm (and defend) yourself was good,
- suffering reverse racial discrimination was good,
- being racially persecuted because of evil things that other people who looked like you did over a century ago was good (regardless of whether your ancestors even lived in that hemisphere at the time),
- being persecuted for practicing your religion was good (even though people like you are in the vast majority),
...you'd call them LOONS. Heck, calling them loons degrades the people who are legitimately mentally ill. I'm not sure there is a word strong enough to describe someone who might attempt to convince you of the things above. The point is that the left *has* to lie and deceive people -- they're pushing something that no rational person would otherwise go for. There's a reason why *they* coined the term "useful idiots", you know -- you'd *have* to be an idiot to buy into their agenda.

They end up looking childish, especially when you can cut-and-paste factoids word-for-word with ease. You're right -- in the age of the internet and Google there's almost no reason to lose an argument due to not having a fact at hand (as long as you're on the right side of the facts).
