,,, maybe we should ask the NSW tree huggers why kangaroos can be taken out no problem at all. We see those as your national symbol, much like the kiwi is ours.

We've got over 70 million possums and they chew thru so much native bush each night... it's amazing.

Wild meat is the best meat esp. when stewed in curry and lots of pepper.

The difference, I think, is that the roo is by no means uncommon. I've lived in this country less than 30 years and I've seen plenty of kangaroos. Then again, the possum isn't uncommon either for that matter, and I know which ones are a bigger pest in urban areas. *Shrug*

Apparently kangaroo meat is quite tasty, although I've never (knowingly) eaten it (there was a scandal in the late 1970's when apparently roo meat was being substituted for beef, but I'm still not sure how much truth there was to that.)
