WHAT WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT WACO
papillonsartpalace.com ^

Posted on 06/27/2004 7:42:00 PM PDT by MaineVoter2002

Now, with new admissions by the FBI that after six years of denials by Janet "Butch" Reno and the FBI, pyrotechnic tear gas canisters were used on the final day of the 1993 government standoff with the Branch Davidians at Waco, Texas, mistrust of government will justifiably grow, and it should soar among leftists who have been obstinately oblivious to what many view as the totalitarian instincts of the Clinton administration. Even Lynn Samuel's, WABC's super-liberal talk show host, now says she'll stand with Bob Barr and Henry Hyde to impeach this president if it's shown that Bill Clinton knew that incendiary devices were used by government agents at Waco...

...The Long Standoff at WACO.

...Yes Siree, it was...

Actually Clark was the CG of the 1st Cav at Ft Hood, not Delta (Clark supplied the armor at Waco) .... the then said CO of Delta is now the Chief of Staff of the US Army.

I believe that Clark was the XO (one star) and the current Chief of Staff of the Army (a two star at the time), brought back after retirement by Rummy, was the CO.

Okay, maybe this article is a bit out of date, but it brings up a tangential point.

With all the Clinton miscues and scandals, we were told that "oh, the government does that kind of thing all the time."

What was Bush's Waco?
When did Bush try to replace White House staff with his "own people" and then try to frame the fired employees?
How many staff members are there in the White House that nobody can remember hiring?
How many illegal campaign contributions has Bush taken from foreign countries?
Under the Bush administration, has the Department of Housing and Urban Development ever tried to sue anyone for peacefully protesting low-income housing?
Has the F.B.I. been pressured to give clearances to Bush staffers who didn't deserve clearances?
Have F.B.I. files turned up at the White House that no one can explain?
Have top ranking Bush officials committed suicide under strange circumstances?
Has Bush been cheating on his wife? If "everybody does it",why hasn't Bush?

I could go on an on. I don't support Bush on everything, but the above list is part of the reason why I consider him a far superior president to what the Democrats are likely to bring us.

Drew and I were pivots in the 82nd together. He went on to become CSM of 2/75.

Clark was one of my Professors at "Hudson High" when he was an LTC ..... I was stunned (and disappointed) when I saw him at Waco. I'm pretty sure he was the CG of the 1st Cav at the time. Now that I am thinking about it more .... I think I am wrong about the Delta CO .... Clark's ADC was in Delta and he was involved in support operations at Waco and I think he is now the CSA.

I was in 2/75 back in 1979-80 (back in the days of independent Ranger Battalions). Wayne A Downing was my 1st BC .... William Powell was my second BC. It's interesting for me to see BG Mark Kimmitt today, he was our company FIST (he actually helped me get into West Point). I'll have to look up the CSM. I remember him being a boxer....

The Abu Ghraib photos bothered America because, in part, there was the assumption that the soldiers were treating their prisoners like "trophy catches".

This same attitude on display at Waco by government forces did not generate the same outrage:

Ann Richards(D) was the governor of Texas at the time.

George W. Bush was not in politics at the time.

Drew and I were pivots in the 82nd together. He went on to become CSM of 2/75. Which Brgd/Bn patton? After leaving Group I spent a number of years in Division - all of them with 2nd Bgd, 2/325 et al, 509th in Vicenza, etc. Knew a lot of 2nd Bat Rangers from your era it sounds like ... and a lot of Eighty-Deuce guys from your era. Smokum' Slocum, Mad Jack Hamilton, James J. Lindsey ... any of those ring a bell? As far as this WACO thing is concerned ... it is a black mark on our government forever - along with Ruby Ridge. The people in control at that time were and are guilty of so many things. Not the least of which that they completely polarized this country. They left us in bad shape IMHO.

I think you may be talking about Catalino "Lino" Barajas? Then again there has been so much switching around between Lewis, Stewart/Hunter and now Benning with the 3rd Bat since I earned my tab ... Lino may have been with 1st Bat.
