THE average cannabis joint is no stronger than it was 25 years ago, say EU experts.
They have analysed official data from across the EU and concluded there have been no significant changes in cannabis potency.
Levels of the drug's active ingredient - D9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - has remained virtually constant.
Cannabis resin (hashish) produced overseas comprised about 70 per cent of the UK market, with the rest being marijuana, around half of which was imported.
On the typical British joint, the report said: "The absence of any decline in the amount of herbal cannabis or resin used may suggest there has been no long-term increase in the THC content of the average cigarette." But scientists warned an increasing trend towards "home-grown" cannabis could lead to increased potency and subsequent health implications.
The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction reported that the content of British reefers was constant at about 200 milligrams of herbal cannabis or 150mg of cannabis resin between 1979 and 2001.
But the scientists' research seemed to suggest that the "Camberwell Carrot" - a huge joint shown in the cult 1986 British film Withnail and I - has largely remained fiction rather than facy.
The experts concluded: "There is no evidence of a significant increase in potency."
Either it is stronger or the stupidity effect is cumulative over time. Users of the stupid herb seemed much brighter in the sixties than they do now.
LOL!
I wonder what the "subsequent health implications" might be? Wish they would've rated BC Bud.
Fools rush in... ;)
No wise man, I.
See #15....
My joints ARE stronger(at 66) cause I lift weights. Other shi- is bad for you.
LOL yep I saw it hehehehe
Sounds like a job for Myth Busters!
Nahhh... They're just rolling pinners.
Joints are no stronger ... my knees scream at me daily!
So much THC resins ooze from Humboldt Homegrown that they use Maple syrup buckets hanging from the plant to catch it...
Thought this was about bone problems .... ;)
Is my lower back considered a joint?
Just Damn !!!!
Them ol boys gonna be higher than a chicken on acid !
LOL it would get difficult to pass that one around ;)
... leg bone connected to the hip bone, the hip bone connected to the pelvic bone, the pelvic bone connected to the backbone ... yep, I think it does count!
I dont know, because I never touch the stuff. I have a friend though who has been smoking weed for fifty years. He tells me the weed is a bit prettier, but thats it.
Back then if you took a couple of hits of good weed, you were stoned same as today.
The "Herb is, Chemically, as it was 40 years ago."
The Population of Individuals affected by the Cannibis, however, are NOT those "Raised In" our (ONCE) superior Educational System; our Current "Pot-Heads" are the Product of 30+ years of our "Politically Correct" "Educational System," & Their "Behavior" reflects Their "Level of Education."
The "Pot" isn't better; the Students are MUCH Less Well Educated!
We have BADLY FAILED our "Next Generation" in terms of Their education.
FEW of them know any Geography or History.
They Might know how to don a Condom, but they cannot locate Kurdistan on a map!
This is a TRAGIC--MAYBE CULTURALLY FATAL--Mistake!!
For Decades, we have allowed a "Public School Teacher Elite" to control the curriculum in our schools.
Our Children are now incapable of finding most Nations on a Map--BUT, they SURE KNOW how to use a Condom, & they Understand that the Demands of a Black or Gay Person SUPERCEDE ANY OTHER Priorities!!
& the "Pot Guys" think that we are a LOT "Dumber" than our '60's counterparts!!
Culturally,--especially with the utter perversion of our schools--we are in Deep Trouble.
Unless we can RAPIDLY REVERSE the Profound Degredation of our Schools, we will be Replaced by a generation of IDIOTS--UTTERLY IGNORANT INDIVIDUALS whose EVERY DECISION is Based on a PROFOUND IGNORANCE of Reality--who were taught that their Choice of Condom was Their Most Profound Decision!!
Several Generations may CURSE the Fraudulent "Teachers of Our Children!"
The REAL "Problem Is," will the "Last Remaining Educated, Rational Generation" Survive Long Enough to "Bridge the Gap" to the Next Educated Generation??
