US holds Sudan responsible for Darfur
Radio Netherlands ^ | June 25 2004

The United States is calling on Sudan to put an immediate end to the violence in its western Darfur region. Secretary of State Colin Powell holds the government in Khartoum responsible for the Arab militias' persecution of the black population in Darfur. Experts are increasingly seeing the violence as ethnic cleansing which would constitute a reason for military intervention under the United Nations charter. Mr Powell is visiting Darfur next week and has called on Sudan to allow international aid workers into the region.

More than one million people have been forced to flee their homes in Sudan's civil war.

"Secretary of State Colin Powell holds the government in Khartoum responsible for the Arab militias' persecution of the black population in Darfur."

Still, Harry Belefonte calls Powell "Uncle Tom".

Here is the sound of Liberals who decry attrocities in Africa......

Heard some yutz (some NY paper reporter) on the radio talking about this situation. When asked what he felt could/should be done, his response was "have the UN and international community ally pressure"...blah, blah, blah. It amazes me that these people still think the UN is a) effective enough to put together a group to put pressure on anyone b)able to do anything once applying pressure fails.

I wish I could go through life ignoring facts. Even my 11 year old understands that past actions are what you use to judge future actions.

Yeah, this should be brought before the UN Human Rights Commission for immediate action!

Oh, wait, Sudan is on that commission.
