PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- A large alcoholic drinks manufacturer has launched a marijuana flavored liquor, the company said Friday.

The drink does not contain any tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the active substance in marijuana. But the beverage does have an alcohol level of 16 percent, said Jiri Janak, the head of liquor production at Drinks Union.

"We produce it from hemp, but there's no THC in it," Janak said, adding he has received no complaints from anti-drug activists.

He said the flavored vodka is sold mostly in large supermarket chains and in some restaurants.

No, it makes it 32 proof. Pretty weak for liquor.

Hey, after they kicked the Germans out of Euro 2004 and helped the Dutch get through to the quarterfinals, I think they deserve a little relaxation |o)

My college roommates invented this when they put out their joint butts in their beer glasses, then drank it.

"Rolled out" in 2004? I have seen "Cannabis" brand vodka in Prague in 2001.

Good ... no nasty mellowing effect to take the edge off a mean drunk.

Marijuana flavored alcohol.

Oooh. This has gotta put MrLeRoy in a real quandary. Does he favor it or want to ban it? If not, why not?

You'd have to ask him. As for me, I don't want to ban alcohol, marijuana, or any combination thereof. I would note that I know of no relevant objective criterion that supports banning marijuana but not alcohol.
