Minorities haven't felt economic growth By Sue Kirchhoff, USA TODAY
The economic expansion has not been equal. Minorities lag behind whites in employment and earnings more than two years after the 2001 recession officially ended.
African-Americans in particular have taken a big hit: suffering higher and longer unemployment than whites and dropping out of the labor force more rapidly. Black teen unemployment rose to 32.5% in May. Even in such areas as Washington, D.C., where unemployment is low and construction is surging, willing workers far exceed steady jobs.
"There are too many people coming out here who are capable of working," says Miguel Jordan, 54, a painter waiting with other unemployed workers at CASA of Maryland, a social service organization in the Washington suburbs.
Employers come to CASA beginning about 6 a.m. to hire day laborers. The center is serving a growing number of African immigrants.

Of course it did. What idiots! Black teens finished school and wanted summer jobs or graduated high school and went to enter the work force. Just like other teens.
Note that they don't compare the increase in black teen unemployment to the increase in white or hispanic teen unemployment. I'd bet they are statistically similar.
I know several young Black males who have moved closer to work: in the suburbs and they had no trouble finding their jobs.

This was to be expected from the Party of Hate.
It is proof that even the Rats are now admitting our economy is roaring.
Now, they will put out these articles of envy and hate showing how women, chilrun, gays and illegal aliens have been harmed and left behind by our economy.
The politicians and union officials who tolerate drop-out rates of 50% in big city schools are the real unemployment villains.
I noticed the word waiting. This mentality of course, is the whole problem. Waiting for someone to give them a job, waiting for a handout...waiting for sympathy, waiting for someone to acknowledge his victimhood. BS! If I became unemployed, I wouldn't be waiting for anything...I'd be getting of my arse looking for another job and not stopping till I got one!

Minorities have ALWAYS lagged behind in employment... this is nothing new.
These numbers are suspect and without seeing previous data, there is now way to draw the conclusion that this author does. BTW - I live in DC and employers are literally scouring the metro area looking for workers. In northern Virginia, the unemployment rate is a scorching 2%. If your not working, your not looking (there are exceptions though).
Class warfare starting already. If we weren't importing all these immigrants both legal and illegal, there would be more jobs for our young citizens.
The waiting syndrome...inability to go out and hustle for a job. A government bureaucrat will do it for you...yeah.
At least they admitted that the [Clinton] recession ended in 2001.
Notice how they start with African-Americans early in the article, but then mention CASA and state that it is serving a growing number of African IMMIGRANTS.
Legal Immigration levels are set by Congress. If unemployment is so terrible, why bring in unskilled workers?
These can't be illegal immigrants, of course, because that would be very deceptive of USA TODAY to blame Dubya for illegal immigrants not getting jobs -- and we all know the Press would never be unfair to Dubya.
