The Jack Ryan Affair...
Crosswalk,World Net Daily,Illinois Leader ^

...The resulting effect has led to a political bloodthirsty moment (as Jill Stanek wrote about) for the ILGOP who hate the conservative wing of their party to begin with and thus the calls of absolute shock and horror over the "lies" and "the way they were decieved". Conservatives are also upset that Jack didn't just take the simple step of revealing to them what was in the allegations from the beginning - so that in the primary voters could make their mind up and decide if they felt the mere allegations were too much to overcome.
All of this brings the concerned voters of Illinois to the decision they have to face today. With the entire Illinois Congressional House delegation calling on Ryan to step down, with the Bloodthirsty Topinka/LaHood wing of the party licking their chops, and even grassroots conservatives desperately disappointed with where this leaves the entire issue - it appears that Ryan may infact step aside.

I still for the life of me don't see the scandal here... Even if everything is true in the allegations is true, he asked his wife for a hummer in front of other people she said no, and life went on......
Where is the damned scandal? I mean is having sex or wanting to have sex with your wife a crime now?
I think the real scandal of this whole thing is why a Judge unsealed records he originally sealed to protect their children... in spite of the fact that both parents argued to keep them sealed. If anything, THAT is the scandal... not the fact some married couple went to sex clubs, and heaven forbid even in the sex club wanted to have sex with each other.

After 8 yrs. of Toon, you can still think character doesn't count? Anyway, how about blackmail? If he doesn't come clean, and Ryan sure didn't reveal this himself, he's a risk.
And by all means, the leak should be investigated and the leaker dealt with.

The scandal, if even true, is a scandal!
My bet is that these allegations were done out of anger and for the purpose of the divorce only.
The allegations are likely stretched beyond credibility, but it does not matter. they are out of the bag.

There wasn't a leak. This information comes from divorce records unsealed by a judge over the arguments of both Jack and Jeri Ryan not to unseal them. Can we say "politically motivated?" After all, the judge to unseal the records was the same to seal them in the first place... at least, that's the impression I'm getting.

So the judge can do that in that state, without the permisssion of one or both of the parties? Bet they fix that loophole. So I guess the question now is what was in it for the judge?

Good to make a clean brake.
I still have my fill from being pounded upon and having to listen that a certain act is soo normal and not sex, to grow up since this is accepted in Europe, and (even while in public service) sex is a private affair.
May different standards prevail.

I guess the judge wanted the lib elected. Who knows. Either way, it's out, both parties didn't want it out, the judge overruled 'em, and it looks like Fitzgerald's coming in to take Ryan's place.

Tha scandal is that Ryan knew Jeri made these allegations and they were in the records. When he was specifically asked by Republican Leadership if there was anything embarrassing in his divorce papers that could be used against him - he said no.
So the scandal is that he LIED his way into the support and endorsement of the party.
Also, face facts - Ryan is getting creamed by Obama. He is a terrible campaigner and candidate. This is a way to get him out of the race and maybe get someone in that could make a reca of it. The seat is probably lost, but Obama is a left of left socialist and the right campain and candidate could still come back.

I just got off the phone talking to my lawyer. We both agreed it was no big deal. In fact he believed that all divorce proceedings should be sealed. He said he could not believe all the things that are said in divorce proceedings to get a better deal in the divorce. As far as Judy Barr Topinka goes I don't recall seeing her at any events for Cook County Republicans. She sure was missing when Katherine Harris came to Chicago about a year and a half ago.
