Wolf Blitzer has one of his correspondents on live right now and called it breaking news that Goss is gonna get the nod from Bush for top CIA job...
A very good choice!
I guess Goss thinks Bush is getting re-elected, since he's giving up his congressional seat for this.
Bring it on!
Bush should have done this on January 20, 2001... Keeping Clintonista Tenet around was a mistake.
Wasn't he the sponsor of HR-3179, the Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Tools Improvement Act of 2003?
Yessss!!! One of the good guys!!! (At least this soothes the pain a little of losing Ted Olson.)
Eh, he's retiring anyway.
I was hoping for Topher Black, but Goss is good, too.
I missed that one. In that case, even a 6 month gig as Chief Spook would likely lead to a nice book deal.
I'm sure liberals would like to throw an absolute fit, but they may be hampered by the importance of filling the position as soon as possible. After all, the last thing liberals want is for the CIA to be effective.
This may have an interesting effect on the 911 committee.
"In particular, he has focused on preventing off-shore oil drilling and setting aside funding to restore the Everglades ecosystem. He has served on bipartisan commissions and task forces to craft proposals to make health care more affordable and accessible for everyone."
gag!!!
Goss voted against HR 1950 last year, which would cap US contributions to the UN at no more than any other permanant member.
He seems something like an internationalist RINO. I hope I'm wrong.
What?? He's not Jewish? I'm going to call the super-secret International Zionist Conspiracy Customer Service Hotline (Complaint Dept.) about this!
WOW ... you are good
It'll be interesting to see who replaces him.
My short list:
Sam Nunn
Richard Lugar
John McCain
Porter Goss
I doubt any of them are on anybody else's short list though.

i was hoping they'd bring in someone new from the business sector to bring a fresh mind and fresh ideas.
I doubtif an insider would be able to see the problems within the agency, since they are not used to doing things another way.
I haven't read much about porter, but i don't seem to like him much.
He is the best person I can think of for this position, and I've been hoping President Bush would choose him.
Wanna bet that the Dems will want to examine Goss' CIA file, to see if he ever did anything naughty?...
