. . . because police officers have a Zen Jedi firearms ability that mere civilians can never hope to attain. . .

And driving skills! Don't forget the driving skills!

Only they can possibly drive 80mph down the highway eating a donut and talking on a cell phone while not wearing a seat belt!

OK for thee, but not for me.

I understand what you mean, but if I'm in a state that has the audicity to reject the 2nd Amendment (and there are many), I would prefer that there might be someone around that is packing.

Lastly, this is going to be great. Let the demoSCUM argue against are law enforcement officers during this election cycle. That's fine with me. Heck, they already hate our military men, why not law enforcement? Most of us already know that the leftists hate cops, this bill will just make their loathing more evident.

Even candidate Al Bore backed this law.

That's because cops face so much more danger than ordinary donut shop patrons.

Here's hoping it dies an amendment death.

Do you think this will make nationwide reciprocity for carry permits more difficult to attain for the common folk? Or is it a foot in the door?

That falls into the category of winning a battle, abut surrendering the war.

I advise carrying based on your conscience and your moral duty to protect your loved ones.

And consider that in many states, illegal concealed carry is a slap on the wrist. In California, it's a misdemeanor for the first offense.

The Senate needs to be blitzed about this.

Maybe it's a foot in the door, but only in states where the pubbies have a lock on the executive and the legislature. Even then, I would still expect massive resistance from the LEOs and all the gun control groups as well as the states with strict gun control because you might be passing through them.

It would be great to add X Military as an amendment in the Senate version.

What's yer reasoning? I'm not contradicting, I just haven't formulated much of a feel for the ramifications yet. (it's only passed the commons, I'd guess the house of lords will put a spear through it's heart)...

I'd like to be optimistic, but the police unions are already pretty smug about pushing for rights of their members and everyone else be damned. The leadership will probably continue to hold hands with the Brady folks and oppose concealed carry for everyone but themselves.

YES... make sense AND give a fighting chance of killing this by amendment.
