Actually, Peter in Greek is "Petros", which is a masculinization of "Petra," which means "rock." Thus "Rocky" is not all that bad a translation of his name.

Still, this has got to be a spoof. I was prepared to believe that the Anglicans had mistranslated the passages concerning sexual morality in the way indicated in the article, but those translations of the other passages are just too ridiculous to believe anyone would actually have seriously produced them.

I'm prepared to believe the Biblical authors are frank. If the Bible were translated completely into modern idiom, some people would consider it unfit to be read to children. All those "begats" and "knew" passages begin to acquire a whole new meaning.

Yep, LOL! I got the Rock/Rocky connection right away. It's the only one I liked (slightly), but when I read the Aaaadreeeeeiinnneee comment it really cracked me up. LOL!

The language used to explain the purpose of this re-write sounds suspiciously just like all other gay advocacy garb. They are determined to re-write the Bible and God for themselves.

Unfortunately, this is not satire.

I had someone at work look up John Henson on a news service. (She printed the articles for me) There is an article yesterday from the London Times and the Vancouver Sun today. These are both pay-me-money sites, so I can't link to the story.

Only in the loosest sense. That would be like calling me "Red" or "Foxy" or even "Tricky" because my first name is Russell which means "like a fox". Although these names are all acceptable based on the meaning of the word Russell, doesn't mean they are accurate.

Does that mean La Traviata was written by Joe Green?
