When a group of children reported hearing screams and seeing a woman's body in a creek not far from the former home of Scott and Laci Peterson, police in Modesto geared up for the worst Tuesday night.
A short time later, authorities, using a helicopter and searchers on the ground, found what had prompted the scare -- a large beaver.
The false alarm came in around 8:30 p.m. with disturbing details. The children, at least one of whom was 11 years old, said a dark-haired woman's body, clothed in a ripped white shirt, was floating in Modesto's Dry Creek........

REDWOOD CITY - A string of prosecution witnesses testified Monday that Laci Peterson frequently complained of fatigue and had pledged to give up exercise walks in the weeks before her disappearance. Scott Peterson claims his wife planned to walk the couple's dog the morning he left for a solo fishing trip and returned to an empty home.........

Juror dismissed from panel
By Jason Dearen
Snip it:
"Breaks in the case
The major break for detectives came in late December, when Amber Frey called the Modesto Police Department's tip line. "I was standing behind the clerk's desk; she was typing in a claim from someone claiming to be his girlfriend," Brocchini said.
Brocchini and another detective drove to Frey's house to check her story. Moments later they were at a Radio Shack, purchasing a recording device for her cell phone.
"I told her not to tell (Peterson) you are working with the police. Just let him keep talking to you ..." Brocchini said. Distaso asked how long it took for Frey to record a call.
"She recorded a conversation while we were there," he said.
The other break came while studying a photograph of Scott Peterson's boat two months after it was taken. For the firs time, Brocchini noticed a pair of pliers with a hair attached resting on the boat's bottom. The hair discovery "was kind of an exciting moment for us," said Brocchini. That hair has not been identified as Laci's, but has been excluded by DNA testing from belonging to Peterson.
At one point in the video, Brocchini tried to confuse Peterson but had the tactic backfire. Peterson said he made two calls to Laci from the marina that day, one at 2:17 p.m. and another on his way home around 4:30 p.m. "I have a couple of concerns. One is from the cell phone call at 12:17, you said 2:17 but the time stamp (on Peterson's cell phone) says 12:17," Brocchini says in an accusatory tone.
Peterson grabs the cell phone and checks the time stamp. After checking he tells Brocchini he mixed up the times. "You said it," Peterson said. With a slight pause to look at his notes, Brocchini admits, "Yeah, you're right."".....

Juror No. 5 removed, motion for mistrial denied
Justin Falconer, previously known to the world as Juror No. 5 in the Scott Peterson murder trial, speaks with the media after he was kicked off the jury Wednesday.
JOHN GREEN/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Snip it:
"Falconer said he would not vote to convict Peterson of murdering his wife, Laci, an unborn son, Conner, from the testimony so far presented. Speaking to a media throng outside the courthouse, he declined to comment on whether other jurors felt similarly. "

They are discussing Amber, and that she didn't tape all the conversations, but LE had account of all of them, and knew she was not cooperating!! One of the poster's then , says this:
"Remember about a book that amber frey gave scott that LE took from house??? It had a note in it warning scott of the wiretaps. Beginning to look like amber frey may of helped SP after all. Would not be the first time this has happened. I know she was suppose to be cleared BUT
Another post...."LE was recording her calls w/o her knowledge, so they knew when she talked to scott anyway...she apparently told them she hadn't talked to him, when she really had a time or 2.....that was very upsetting for me, when i read about this on msnbc....i so wanted geragos to not have anything on her, as far as the wiretaps, but he'll have a field day with her for sure now.... showing that she wasn't entirely honest with LE, won't look good, imo.... & about the sleepovers with laci's friends....i just wish that hadn't happened either.....heard tonight that nancy grace told the prosecutors to "put up or shut up".....& now this juror #5....UGH, UGH....."
Don't have time to post my thoughts now...but yesterday's happenings are disgusting. The Media has itself to blame for us not getting camera's into the courtroom. __________________

Thanks, that snip it explains it all... he is gaga over Geragos....
I haven't heard any other updates lately. Other than they are still seeking cooperation of the person in interest, Evelyn's married boyfriend at the time. He refuses to talk. And last known, family was seeking public help via news media on trying to solve her death, and where could her son be?
"To me, he seems like he wants to go back home and lay around in front of the tv, maybe go to the beach. This trial is seriously eating into his 'personal' time.
And if he can get a book deal, some $$$, and some noteriety, so much the better! I think the trial made his head hurt. He had to self medicate with Gameboy. Wonder what time he gets out of bed on non-trial days!"
Are you talking about juror #5 or Scott???? LOL

This seems to ring true:
(Aired May 27, 2004 - 09:30 ET)
...TED ROWLANDS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Both sides in the Peterson case are counting on hired guns to pick a jury.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We do nothing but look at jurors week in and week out, day in and day out for years.
ROWLANDS: Prosecutors have Howard Barenski (ph). His experience in high-profile cases dates back to 1985 and Bernard Getts. Barenski helped the defense pick a jury that found the New York subway vigilante not guilty of attempted murder. Barenski, who refers to his jurors as "his children," says he's recently proud of his work for the prosecution on the Martha Stewart case, where the jury came back with four guilty verdicts.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It felt great. It felt like justice was done. And it felt like my children came through.
ROWLANDS: Jo Ellen Demetrius is working for the defense. She, too, has extensive high-profile case experience, starting with the O.J. Simpson trial.
JO ELLEN DEMETRIUS, JURY CONSULTANT: If I were to look at any one case that I felt good walking out of the courtroom about the jury, certainly O.J. would be that jury.
ROWLANDS: Both consultants have spent the last 2 1/2 months in court, scrutinizing every member of the Peterson jury pool.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There were joys in their facial expressions, how they dress, how they walk, everything.
DEMETRIUS: How they react to the attorneys, too, is a big component of how we're evaluating these people.

Gee, now that you mention it....
Oops, sorry for the repeat. Seriously, this guy is a piece of work, a Scott clone. He seemed to be impressed by style over substance and he really identifies with SP. He's softened some of his earlier statements; however, I don't think he would vote to convict unless the prosecution had a video tape of the crime. Even then, I'm not sure. Not only does he identify with SP, he doesn't seem to have the ability to think probabilistically. He simply can't understand that there are too many coincidences. For all the crazy things he's said, however, there probably are a few kernals of truth. One of those "kernals" is that the prosecution's presentation is probably lacking. This is a great opportunity for them to retool. I bet the defense is absolutely sick that they lost this guy. I can't believe Varinsky selected him!
justice served, is justice delayed... that makes me want to heave!.... These juror selections... Although, many times, it is warranted.
And how did they know that he was on the case if he didn't tell them? Thank goodness this jerk is off the jury.
New Amber info coming up on CC...Seems Geragos has spent the day proving have truthful Scott is by his crossexam of Broncchini....
Seduction of Amber:Nov. 20th, first date ...Elephant Bar..he had a suite...Scott..They said he had lost $100,000 year before, concerned about changes coming in his life...
Discusses his travels all over the world , carved initials and dates on champagne corks, as he has with other women..Lawyer called him like Clinton.LOL
Dec 2...hiking with Amber and daughter, goes to buy tree , calls Amber's daughter his daughter"family" to salesman...Dec9th..Tells Amber he's lost his wife, buys boat...(premeditation)? Dr. says no one would be so obvious..Vinny disagrees.
Dec. 13h He declares no desire to have children, Amber's daughter is enough...Also talked about vasectomy.(motive..no child support, no entanglement with a child that is lasting by law.)
Defense is saying yeah but..Nothing concrete....
CC is a two trip believer...
Galanter says Geragos took the wind out of the "cad" case by saying up front he was a cad. ...and he never confesses.
Crier saying no way abducted.
She is pushing the 24th call to Amber while he's in the shower.again and I don't know where that's been verified.(said he was duck hunting, called her on 25th ..26th said he was in New York and missed his plane to Europe).
Christmas formal 14th.
Thank you so much for posting allof that. My husband called right when catherine was talking.

Ron Frey's attorney is on-wants to sequester jury-is willing to pay for it!!!!!!Has already reserved block of rooms in a hotel!!!
Good grief! ..hurts Amber's credibility as it is to aid prosecutors?? Ron Frey's filed a motion with DA to have jury sequestered. He has offered to pay for jurors accommodation if they will be sequestered.( #5 set him off...)
Ron Frye's attorney says that Amber has NO FACTUAL EVIDENCE OTHER THAN THEIR RELATIONSHIP!!!
