Terror charges dropped
The FBI officially confirmed the death of Habis Abdulla Al Saoub, the alleged ringleader of teh Portland Seven.
Federal authorities have dismissed their case against the ringleader of a Portland militant Islamic group nine months after the man was reported killed in a shootout in Pakistan.
The US Attorney's Office filed a motion today to drop the case against Habis Abdulla Al Saoub, one of the so-called Portland Seven. With the filing, authorities have resolved all outstanding charges in the case of a group of Portland area Muslims who tried to travel to Afghanistan to fight against American forces there.
Federal officials said in October they believed Al Saoub had been killed in a shootout in Pakistan's border region with Afghanistan. But the FBI did not formally confirm he had died until Monday.
"The FBI has confirmed that he was killed in Pakistan during a firefight with Pakistani troops on October 3rd, 2003," said Assistant US Attorney Charles Gorder.
If Al Saoub had been captured alive and convicted, Gorder said, he could have spent life in prison. The other six have been sentenced to jail terms ranging from three to 18 years.
Pingerooni!
Need to make prison life interesting and with a certain style of ambiance, lest the other convicts complain that their inner selfs are not being rehabilitated. ;) ;) ;)
Try him anyway and hang his carcus, just to get the satisfaction.
Thanks for the ping.
Freexe Dry him and then super glue him to Mayor Vera Katz.
Then each day she would be reminded of her treachery to America and Americans.
