Welcome to the grunts, Galloway and the Hack have been pissing me off of late, I admire both by the way. When you are at war nasty endings happen.

Am reading "Into the Storm" by General Fred Franks (Ret) and Tom Clancy.
New Paperback has All new chapter on the Thunder Run and other items from Operation Enduring Freedom.

wow... thank you for sharing that. I don't think I've ever read a more heartfelt account of combat. I found his analysis interesting when he said that when you get right down to it, it's just ordinary men on both sides that are overwhelemed by the experiences of war. I hope that soldier knows how much we appreciate all their sacrifices...

Am reading "Into the Storm" by General Fred Franks (Ret) and Tom Clancy. Great book, but Franks was pretty critical of Schwarzkopf if I recall.

Heroes. The word isnt strong enough, big enough.
Words fail completly.

"I've come in from my third 18-hour patrol in as many days with a full beard and stared at a major in a pressed uniform who hasn't left the wire since we've been here, daring him to tell me to shave. He looked at me, looked at the dust and sweat and dirt on my uniform, and went back to typing at his computer. "I've given a kid water and Gatorade and made a friend for life. I've let them look through my sunglasses - no one wears them in this country but us - and watched them pretend to be an American soldier - a swaggering invincible machine, secure behind his sunglasses, only because the Iraqis can't see the fear in his eyes.
Freedom isn't free.

Wow - This brings tears to my eyes - These guys do not get the credit they deserve. As an ex-marine - I never saw action - Part of me really wants to be there - another part of me fears that I might not come back - not so much for me, but for my family....
I've printed this for others to see.

It continues to piss me off that the only military members worthy of media attention are Jessica Lynch and Lyndie England.
