Rock for Life Report 7-13-04

1. Summer Tour
2. Rock for Life in the News
3. Hollywood & Abortion
4. Say what?
5. Pro-abortion musicians

1. Summer Tour

It has been such a blessing to work with such an awesome team! The tour has not only given me an opportunity to build stronger bonds with my teammates, but also the opportunity to be a witness. At our last music festival, I had great conversations with some attendees.  Two conversations in particular come to mind.

One was with a young man who was working as a vendor at the festival. He didn’t agree fully with our stand on contraceptives. He asked me this question, “If you could save 50% of the babies that will be aborted out of the 100%, will you compromise?”  My answer to him was this: How can we weave out 50% of the best babies and not break our hearts for the other 50%!  Rock for Life cannot compromise! We stand for saving all of the babies! He smiled at me and commended us for our stance.

The second conversation was with an older lady, who married young and was in the army with her husband. She became pregnant and he forced her at gunpoint to have an abortion.  As I was listening to her, I could see the pain of each moment of that day she experienced. Before she walked away, she said, “Thank for listening to my story, and thank you for what you are doing. People need to hear this message.”

Summer tour to me is about educating those who have compromised their heart to the atrocity of abortion, which reminds me to continually educate myself in order to have an answer to every question. It is also about ministering to the hearts of those who have been wounded by abortion and are yearning for someone to listen to their story. May we never cease to ask God to give us His compassion, love, and patience as we are given the opportunity to save babies!

Here is a list of some upcoming events still scheduled for our summer tour.  If you are attending any of these festivals, make sure to stop by and say, “Hi!”  Also,
check the Rock For Life website for daily journals and photos from the summer tour.

July 29 – Aug 1              SoulFest, Lincoln, New Hampshire

Aug. 1 – 4                     Kingdom Bound, Darien Lake, New York

Aug. 20 – 21                  Purple Door Festival, Lewisberry, Pennsylvania

2. Rock for Life in the News

Check out the Washington Post’s coverage of Cornerstone Festival, Hallelujah Palooza.  Cornerstone is the latest festival we attended.  It’s not the most glorious review of a Christian festival, but it does include a paragraph about Rock for Life.  In it you can sense the disdain for the number of our shirts visible throughout the festival, along with the message we convey on them.

After reading the article, you should also be able to see why it is very important that we attend this festival every year.  Even Christians need to hear the message that abortion kills a baby while seriously harming women.

To access this article, you may need to register.  Registration is free, fast and easy.

3. Hollywood & Abortion

Most of us know that the abortion holocaust has been destroying society.  We are also witnessing abortion’s devastating effect on Hollywood.  Last week Courtney Love (ex Hole lead singer/songwriter as well as widow to Kurt Cobain) was hauled off on a stretcher to a hospital.  We’re not sure exactly what happened—the reports are mixed.  According to a New York Times article (Courtney Love Brought to Hospital From Her SoHo Apartment), a police office reports that Love had an abortion, while the Fire Department spokesman states that the 911 caller reported a miscarriage. But her lawyer maintains that Love has gynecological conditions requiring medical treatment.  Again, we don’t know exactly what happened, but let’s pray that if Ms. Love did have an abortion, she will go to Rachel’s Vineyard for post-abortion counseling and healing.  Once she has received counseling there, then let’s pray that she becomes an advocate for the babies instead of continuing her destructive behavior.

4. Say what?

“I oppose abortion, personally.  I don’t like abortion.  I believe life begins at conception.  I can’t take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist.  We have separation of church and state in the United States of America.”  (“Kerry says he believes life starts at conception,” Washington Post, 7/5/04)

That was Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.).  My question to Senator Kerry is this: What about stealing, voter fraud or tax evasion?  The Catholic faith, along with most, if not all Orthodox Christian denominations, would view these as sins.  Do you think you will be able to legislate these sins against “a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist?”  God help us.

5. Pro-abortion musicians

Unfortunately, there are two additional musicians we are adding to our pro-abortion bands list, SONiA & Chris Williamson.  These musicians are being featured at the 2004 National NOW Conference this Saturday, July 17th.  If you would like to contact them to let them know how you feel about their support of abortion and the destruction of our generation, see below.

Rock for Life Report 7-23-04

1. Boston Action Alert
2. Summer Tour Photos
3. Hollywood and Abortion
4. New Rock for Life chapter
5. News of Interest

1. Boston Action Alert

Starting this weekend, thousands of pro-aborts will be swarming Boston for the Democratic National Convention.  While we do not endorse political parties or candidates, we do oppose the slaughter of babies, no matter who is promoting it.  The official Democratic Party platform supports the slaughter of one-third of our generation through surgical abortion.

In response, members of Rock for Life Boston and Rock for Life Capital District (Albany, N.Y.), along with many other pro-life activist groups, will be a voice for the babies during this time.  If you are in the area, we ask that you prayerfully consider attending one or more of their events.  The babies and their mothers need you to stand up and be a voice for them while politicians speak out against life.

For a list of events, click here.  For additional information from an activist in the trenches, call 717-341-2994.

2.
Summer Tour Photos

We have some photos up on the website from our Summer Tour.  If you have a minute, go check them out.

Rock for Life will again be hitting the road for the Summer Tour.  If you are attending any of these festivals, make sure to stop by and say, “Hi!”  Also, check the Rock for Life website for daily journals.

July 29 – Aug 1              SoulFest, Lincoln, New Hampshire
Aug. 1 – 4                        Kingdom Bound, Darien Lake, New York
Aug. 20 – 21                   Purple Door Festival, Lewisberry, Pennsylvania

Check out the Rock for Life stage at Purple Door on Saturday, August 21.

9:45 – 10:14 a.m.    –  Gates Called Beautiful
11:45 – 12:15 p.m. –  Mourning September
12:30 – 1:00 p.m.  –   Still Remains
5:00 – 5:30 p.m.    –   Poor Man’s Riches

3. Hollywood and Abortion

Rapper Joe Budden has recently expressed his disdain for babies and women.  On Usher’s latest single, Confessions, Pt. II Joe can be heard stating the following:

“Pray that she abort that, If she’s talkin’ ‘bout keepin’ it
One hit to the stomach, She’s leakin’ it.”

Here a musician is advocating murdering his own child.  If his girlfriend doesn’t comply?  Physically abuse her is his answer.

In Joe’s world life is cheap.  In ours life is sacred.  Pray for Joe that he has a change of heart—from a heart hardened to life to one that celebrates it, while honoring and respecting women.

4. New Rock for Life Chapter

Rock for Life Wappingers Falls, NY

If you’re near the Hudson up a bit from the Big Apple, make sure to contact them to get involved.

5. News of Interest

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider is now offering a new t-shirt in its online store.  The front reads, “I had an abortion.”  Unlike Silent No More's campaign of “I regret my abortion,” the wearer of this shirt may seem prideful and unashamed of the fact that she has aborted her own child.  Burying her pain may eventually lead to very destructive behavior.  To view the shirt, go here.

Speaking of Planned Parenthood, they recently hosted a conference for 5th – 9th graders in Waco, Texas called Nobody’s Fool.  Here they barred parents from attending the sessions, along with distributing disturbing materials to minors that encouraged sexual immorality.  For additional information, go
here.

Finally, ALL’s Summer Crusade for Life was recently denied permission by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to speak at parishes in the local diocese.  But that didn’t slow them down.  Instead, they were found praying at local abortion mills and speaking to groups not located in local parishes.  The Crusade for Life is a group of eleven college students walking from Maine to DC this summer spreading the message that you cannot be both Catholic and pro-abortion.  For more info, go here
