RatherBiased.com has received official confirmation from an ad executive at CBSNews.com that the network's Web site is a business partner with Amazon.com.
In an interview, CBSNews.com sales director David Ghiraldini verified the existence of the relationship but declined to discuss the partnership or its ethical ramifications for a news organization profiting from the sale of controversial political books.
Ghiraldini became defensive after reading our earlier item which first disclosed the partnership, a story which he repeatedly insisted was "incorrect." When asked repeatedly what parts of RatherBiased.com's story were in error, Ghiraldini declined to do so, insisting only that the story was incorrect.
"I don't think I should have to tell you," the executive replied "I'm just telling you it's not correct. I just don't think I can discuss this. Maybe I can call you back if I ever want to talk about it."
Pressed further, Ghiraldini reverted to his previous statements, insisting, however, that he did support the public's right to know the truth.
These days, it's bigger news to find someone, something, anything that isn't a partner of Amazon..
Wow. So with Viacom and its network affiliates, and with CBS already tied with Simon and Schuster...this alliance with Amazon gives the Liberals alot of control over both the print and visual mediums. Couple this with the Tribune Corporation owning several of the big urban newspapers, I'd say that Eric Alterman's claim that the media is owned by conservatives, is a joke.
The 'truth' CBS style. This seems to shed light on an apparent trend at Amazon-- it seems that when ever I try to get a review on some book the featured reviews always seem to be leftist.
It's a shame; I've always found Amazon to be otherwise pretty dependable.
We need to paste this article as a comment on Amazon for ALL liberal book releases.
Does anyone know - Is this merely unethical (THAT certainly won't stop them), or could this be considered a legal issue?
The incestuosness (spelling?) of the left wing is disgusting. I wondered the other day how Amazon had 3 versions of Bubba's dribble in its top 10.
