For those who might be interested in this nonsense. Perhaps someone will point me to the evidence that Jews are advocating Muslim immigration, because I've never seen it. If instead the issue is the liberal view on immigration, the headline and much of the article are a fraud, most immigrants, legal and illegal, to this country are, well, Christians.

Folks, this is the authentic title of Auster's article --- NOT the title that the admin Moderator has changed it to. The real title tells you what the article is about -- why Jewish liberals are for open borders. AmishDude wants that issue and that theme suppressed, so he got Admin Moderator to censor the real title. Too bad, because we -- people insie and outside the Jewish community as well -- need a discussion of the real topic of Auster's article: "Why Liberal Jews Welcome Muslims to America." Open borders aren't healthy for Jews or nonJews - - so why don't they wake up? That's the theme of Auster's article -- AND OF THE REAL TITLE, WHICH HAS BEEN CENSORED

Many of them are as nominal Christians as as are Jews.

These nominal Christians are making common cause with Muslims. See the alliance between the Aztlandistas and the Muslims on the college campuses. Or see the proclivity of many new immigrants to ally with the Party of the Oppressed - the DemocRats.

I'm in agreement with this writer. I see the immigration laws as currently promulgated as a threat to MY culture as a Christian.

MY preference would be to limit immigration for a while to those strictly fleeing persecution for religious reasons. That would limit it to religious Christians and religious Jews.

Flame away anyone and call me a bigot, but Muslims have an entire region to live where they are not oppressed, but are the oppressors.

Christians and Jews in those regions are fleeing those oppressors. Plus, they tend to be conservative in their social outlook which suits me fine.

Hold on a second.
Liberal Jewish organizations (sorry, but most Jewish orgs are liberal) support immigration. They do so not only because they are liberal, but also because of a particular Jewish history.
While most immigrants are Christians, a significant number are Muslim. Any significant Muslim immigration posses a threat to Jews. (Go read Stephen Steinlight's article.)
At any rate, the net result is that most Jewish orgs support Muslim immigration to the US irrespective of the threat this causes to America, and American Jews in particular.
