No, it's to get Bush's and Cheney's "trustworthiness" rankings down. All well orchestrated, the 9/11 Commission is in on it too - for example, little inserts into the "staff" reports that may seem insignificant to the big picture but are selected and amplified in the usual suspects - NYTimes, WashPost and Newsweek.

Actually, they've been very effective. Most second tier media won't question those outlets despite nemver naming a source for their reflexive denials within 24 hour newscycles.

What I see here is an intentional alliance between the media and the Rats. The media produces the lie, then they continue to perpetuate the lie, and then jerks like the lunatic Gore continue to yell about the lie, until the lie is no longer a lie because so many people seem to believe it. Where there is smoke, there is fire, right?

Absolutely. Gore is the pressure-valve through which the wacko accusations leak from, leaving Kerry to the safe and light duty of trying to convince small crowds that the economy isn't improving.

It seems to me that McAulliffe et al is increasingly aware of Kerry's inability to inspire confidence, and that they want to keep him bottled up until the convention. In the meantime, Gore, MoreOn.org and Michael Moore are out there belching their gaseous untruths.

I wpould say, both are likely. It won't be the first time the democraps have used a criminally insane spokesperson to set up the electorate. And yes, I believe it is clear that Algore is mentally ill and unable to manage his hostile impulses against GW Bush.
