PORTLAND, Ore. A suspect in the disappearance of a Brigham Young University student had dryer lint in his house that was labeled to be from the apartment complex where the woman was last seen, according to a court document.
Sung Koo Kim (search), 30, of Tigard was arrested by Portland police Monday on unrelated theft and burglary charges. His bail was set at $10 million after he was accused of stealing underwear from three different Portland college dormitories or laundry rooms starting in October 2002.
In the affidavit, Detective Bryan Steed of the Portland Police Bureau refers to Kim as a suspect in the Wilberger case. He states that a search of Kim's computer by Newberg police yielded 40,000 pictures of women being tortured and raped. Newberg police also found videos of two women doing laundry at Concordia University (search) in Portland. The women were unaware they were being watched.
Steed added that Kim's computer showed Internet searches for 10 female students and multiple searches for "non-extraditable countries." A file labeled "osu.doc" was also found on the computer. It listed activities involving rape and torture

A suspect in the disappearance of a Brigham Young University student had dryer lint in his house that was labeled to be from the apartment complex where the woman was last seen, according to a court document.
Sung Koo Kim, 30, of Tigard was arrested by Portland police Monday on unrelated theft and burglary charges. His bail was set at $10 million after he was accused of stealing underwear from three different Portland college dormitories or laundry rooms starting in October 2002.
Kim is also a suspect in burglaries and thefts at George Fox University in Newberg. Police found more than 1,000 pairs of underwear in his house, some with labels identifying the college, dorm and woman from whom they had allegedly been stolen.
An affidavit filed in Multnomah County said the lint was labeled with the apartment complex from where 19-year-old Brooke Wilberger disappeared on May 24.
Though the bail is unusually high for a theft case, the affidavit says there is "not probable cause" to charge Kim in the Wilberger case.
Kim's lawyer, Janet Lee Hoffman of Portland, said she plans to contest the bail.
"The whole thing is terrible," Hoffman said. "They don't have evidence to charge him, so they keep dragging him into court with these historical panty burglaries and piling charges on him."
In the affidavit, Detective Bryan Steed of the Portland Police Bureau refers to Kim as a suspect in the Wilberger case. He states that a search of Kim's computer by Newberg police yielded 40,000 pictures of women being tortured and raped. Newberg police also found videos of two women doing laundry at Concordia University in Portland. The women were unaware they were being watched.
Steed added that Kim's computer showed Internet searches for 10 female students and multiple searches for "non-extraditable countries." A file labeled "osu.doc" was also found on the computer. It listed activities involving rape and torture.
Kim was arrested following a court appearance in Yamhill County, and lodged at the Multnomah County jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
The arrest comes just four days after Kim pleaded innocent to charges of stealing women's underwear on May 2 from a dorm room at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
Wilberger disappeared three weeks after that date from an apartment complex near Oregon State. She hasn't been seen since, despite a massive search and investigation.
Authorities say Kim remains one of four people "of significant interest" in the case.
But Hoffman, his lawyer, said there is evidence that places Kim away from Corvallis on the day that Wilberger vanished.
"We've provided substantial evidence that he was not involved with the disappearance in Corvallis," she said.
Police cannot confirm Kim's alibi, said Lt. Ron Noble, a spokesman for the Corvallis Police Department. He refused further comment.

Wow... so he befriended all these girls? How else would he know their names? If he was asking about girls, it certainly should have set off some radar, so hopefully if this is the guy, lots of witnesses will have stories to tell the police about his behaviour.
That part about "non-extraditable countries" shows planning. Do they have capital punishment in Oregon?
What a pig-faced freak!
Retribution should be sure and swift, as it was in the olden days.
Excellent! I pray that she is not dead, as this story leads me even further to believe, but if this is the man who is responsible, I then pray that he receives just punishment.
He did it. He is guilty. I can feel it. /no sarc
Underwear fetish. Given all the details, it sounds as if they have found their man.
There is a such thing? Jeez, I've been living in ignorance. On the other hand the dude had 40k rape and torture pictures on his PC so I guess there is a dark side, beyond just plain weird.
On balance, I think I preferred the ignorance.
Maybe I'm a throwback, but my only interest in co-eds' panties was getting the co-eds out of them (consensually, dammit). "Underwear fetish" sounds like some guy who separates the girls from their unmentionables, and then discards the girl and keeps the undies. A sick puppy.
And... collecting lint?
Even if this guy isn't responsible for the disappearance of that poor girl, seems like he belongs in the hospital for the criminally perverted.

Wish it lead me; but think this confirms the likelihood that she is long gone. . .dead or alive; I hope she was not put to the kind of suffering that his videos favor.
Just sick; still wondering how he got her in the car. Whatever you do; run; scream; fall on the pavement - do not get in the car, if you can at all help it.
