If there is any doubt that the talent and intellectual energy among modern writers is on the Right, it should be laid to rest by this commentary, and the recent works of Wretchard, Mark Steyn, and Victor Davis Hanson.
Wretchard's communicative ability and prescience can only be described as incandescent.

The behavior of the senators who will not allow any significant Bush nominees on even District courts can only be understood with reference to the Brezhnev Doctrine.
The forces of moral relativism only march in one direction.
wretchard is brilliant. Belmont Club is indispensable daily reading.

Good article. Not to nitpick, but there are a few places where the enemies viewpoint is accepted as a viable possibility, when it is not. An example:
The key factor in the moribidity of both the Soviet and Western cases was that Leftism had ceased to work.
CEASED to to work?? It never worked. No where, no time, no how. It's important to always say that Leftism has failed 100% of the time. The Left is always saying, "let us try again, we almost had it right last time -- next time will be even better." It's time to come out and say that it never worked at all and there is no reason to expect it to work, since it goes against human nature.

"Sooner or later Liberals and Conservatives must form a coalition of national unity to face the barbarian horde as one."Uhhhh, personally, I would go for total defeat of the Liberals and that in no uncertain terms. Two choices for the socialist, learn to love it or LEAVE.
Coalition my ass...like trusting Stalin to watch my back while he holds a knife behind his back.
That said, this is an excellent read. Well stated.

I've occasionally wondered if the impeachment of Caligula and the very close presidential election had a role to play in motivating OBL and his mad Moslem murderers to commit the atrocity of 911.
I recall how the foreign press universally ridiculed our political system, such as the impeachment process, the electoral college system, and the SCOTUS adjudication of the disputed SCOFLA edicts. We all know that Eurabia absolutely gushed over Caligula, recognizing him as one of their own, and lambasted "those rube Republicans" for holding him to account for his indiscretions and felonies. These foreigners claimed the fact that Algore lost the regular election, even after getting the majority of the popular vote, was another example of American decadence and decline. It fit the canard of America being run by its moneyed elites and corporations. Even half of our own people still sing this song! It seems to me that this just fanned the flames of blind America-hatred by the envious and degenerate societies of the world.
Lately, I've been thinking that the unrepentent and irredeemable dumbass Democrat half of America very well may reach their goal of destroying this country. They seem to be doing a good job of undermining our current war for survival; a war that I hold them responsible for instigating.
...And JohnEffinKerry is ahead in the polls!

"the Liberals watched aghast as America went to war -- when that had been abolished!"
Wow. Incredible insight. this really puts the law enforcement vs military view of how to handle terrorism in perspective.

How can anyone agree with this article? Socialism has won, hands down. Like cancer it has spread until all organs are infested with it, including "conservatism".
What is considered conservatism today is anemic, drained of blood and energy bearing no resemblance to the true conservatism of old. Conservatism has become a strange mix of socialism and totalitarianism where big brother has all the answers and on a global scale.
The only difference between Bush and Jesse Jackson is that Bush wants to take poverty pimping global while strapping the American citizen with the "duty" to raise all boats globally. Thirty four billion in payments from an already strapped Social Security System to Mexico over five years, Mexican truckers taking over American trucking and driving the wage down as happened in construction.
The loss of the American manufacturing and industrial base to raise the boats of the third world has the blue collar worker not feeling this "economic recovery". Disposable income is nada for this group.
The new big tent Republican doctrine that everyone on the planet is an American citizen waiting to arrive and more deserving of representation than actual citizens, no matter their political ideology, no matter the destructive doctrine of their religion or creed, is completely Babylonian and we all know what happened there. History does repeat itself.
V. Fox's brag about the plan to melt Mexico, the US, and Canada into one trading bloc with U.S. salaries dropping to meet Mexico's rising wages is no where in the Constitution and is a false "duty" requiring the victim to allow himself to be mugged and stripped of everything from his sovereignty to his standard of living.
Anyone who thinks socialism hasn't won is sound asleep.
