Former French PM Calls Balfour Declaration "Historic Mistake"

A former French Prime Minister, and currently a leading member of the European Parliament, has called Great Britain's Balfour Declaration that paved the way for the creation of the State of Israel as a "historic mistake." Michel Rocard, who is said to be in the running for president of the European Parliament for the coming two and a half years as part of a political deal, spoke about Israel in a lecture last week in Alexandria, Egypt. Israel is a "unique and abnormal condition," he said, "because it was created with a promise, and [because] millions of Jews gathered from all around the world, creating an entity that continues to pose a threat to its neighbors until today."

Rocard, who served as Prime Minister of France between 1988 and 1991, said also, "To pray to God is accepted, but violence is not."

The French government reported this month 180 incidents of attacks or threats against Jews or Jewish-owned property since the start of 2004. France, with just over 60 million people, has an estimated five million Muslims and 600,000 Jews - the largest numbers of both populations in Europe.

Very "pragmatic," of him; what they call, in France, "logic."

Appeasement, the art of both the Vicy French and the Vichy Democrats.

If these quotes are true then this guy is a real piece of work.

"because it was created with a promise,"

Actually that IS true - except that Israel was created by the promise of God and not that of any man.

" . . .an entity that continues to pose a threat to its neighbors until today."

Absolutely obscene. The tiny nation of Israel struggles for its own survival against a virtual sea of bloody minded fanatics and this clown has the nerve to say IT poses a threat?

Unbelievable.

Look.

Israel is the only Democratic Republic over there. Our Declaration of Independance charges us to support Democratic Republics throughout the world.

If Israel wasn't there, they'd be trying to blow someone else up.

Perhaps if the UAE nations fostered ideals that weren't based on greed, there wouldn't be any trouble in the meddle-east.

IMHO, world-wide acceptance of Islamic hedgemony will go down as one of history's greatest blunders.

This is the part that got me.

Rocard says, Israel is a "unique and abnormal condition," he said, "because it was created with a promise, and [because] millions of Jews gathered from all around the world, creating an entity that continues to pose a threat to its neighbors until today."

So let me get this correct. 5 million Jews are a threat to 250 million Muslims in the Mideast.

Can this foolish EX French PM Read.

On Arafat's Fateh site, it says this about Arafat's constitution. http://www.fateh.net/e_public/constitution.htm

Kaddoumi: PLO charter was never changed
Jerusalem Post, Apr. 22, 2004, KHALED ABU TOAMEH

Farouk Kaddoumi, the PLO's hard-line "foreign minister," said Thursday that when Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat talks about the need to pursue the struggle against Israel, he is referring to the armed struggle. Kaddoumi said the armed struggle was the only way to force Israel to accept the demands of the Palestinians.

Kaddoumi's remarks were made in an interview with the Jordanian newspaper Al-Arab. He admitted that the PLO charter, which denies Israel's right to exist, was never changed.

Existence of Israel contrary to Iranian interests: top official Monday, 10-Nov-2003
TEHRAN, Nov 10 (AFP) - The mere existence of Israel is contrary to Tehran's national interests, press reports said Monday, quoting former Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati, now a top advisor to Iran's supreme leader.

"One of the elements of progress in a country is regional cooperation. Israel was created to prevent unity and cooperation between Islamic countries, that is why the existence of Israel is in contradiction with the national interests of Iran," Velayati was quoted as saying by the conservative Ressalat newspaper.

The Late Faisal Husseini: Oslo Is A Trojan Horse

In Husseini's last interview with the the popular Egyptian newspaper el Arav in 2001.
Husseini said, it is the obligation of all the Palestinian forces and factions to see the Oslo Accords as "temporary" steps or "gradual" goals, because in this way, "We are setting an ambush for the Israelis and cheating them."

He also differentiated between, "strategic," long term, "higher" goals, and "political," short term goals dependent on "the current international establishment, balance of power, capabilities, and variable considerations that change from time to time." Nevertheless, the Palestinians have been forced to temporarily concentrate on "gradual diplomatic goals." However, the main goal is the "liberation of all Palestine from the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean)," even if this requires a struggle that will continue "1,000 years, or generations upon generations."

So, does this Rocard character wear a military uniform, strut around in jackboots and sport a funny little moustache?

We need to get out of the way as Old Europe implodes.

Actually this is a refreshingly candid response.

When all the hemming and hawwing of the "Euro-Pro Palestinian" movement is stripped away, at it's core is that the creation of the Jewish state was a mistake and that Israel is an illegitimate entity.

The Europeans insisted on sticking Jews in Ghettos, and when they get their own ghetto in the Middle East, they still get criticized. There are people who hate Jews no matter what.

Israel was not created by a promise. It was created by the toil, sweat and blood of its pioneers.

Yes, the Balfour declaration of 1917 was one of many promises made by the struggling allied powers to try and gain enough support to overthrow the Turkish empire.

Of course the Balfour declaration was never honoured. The Jewish immigration to the British ruled mandate of Palestine was severely curtailed during the 1930's, when it could have served as a haven for the persecuted Jewish people.

In 1948, after a struggle of liberation, that eventually forced the British to abandon the mandate, there was a vote passed in the UN for a two-state solution. However, when all the surrounding Arab states attacked the new-founded Israeli state not one of the states who had voted yes rose to the defence of Israel. The Israelis had to defend themselves, and once again pay for their country with blood. And they have had to do that ever since..

Former Assyrian King Calls Cyrus Declaration "Historic Mistake"

A former Assyrian King, and currently a leading royalist in Mesopotamia, has called Persia's Cyrus Declaration that paved the way for the recreation of the State of Israel as a "historic mistake." Azzamafibilip, who is said to be in the running for King of Babylonia for the coming two and a half years as part of a political deal, spoke about Israel in a lecture last week in Alexandria, Egypt. Israel is a "unique and abnormal condition," he said, "because it was created with a promise, and [because] millions of Jews gathered from all around the world, creating an entity that continues to pose a threat to its neighbors until today."

Azzamafibilip, who served as King of Assyria between 604 and 600 BCE, said also, "To pray to God is accepted, but violence is not."
