Clinton was offered three chances to take Osama Bin Laden into custody. For whatever reasons known only to him, he turned them all down.

From what I read in the excerpts of Steve Coll's book Ghost Wars, virtually every attempt to capture OBL was waylaid by the tortuous legal blockades erected by the Reno DoJ (including Gorelick).

For example, according to Coll, the CIA ground troops and its task force had OBL nailed several times, and in each instance the DoJ came back with some sort of twisted authorization that would basically leave individual CIA exployees to swing in the wind should anything go wrong. In each instance, the Adminstration would assume no responsibility whatsoever, and the "authorization" memos were written in that vein.

I found it perfectly logical that when Reno herself appeared before the 9/11 Commission, within 10 minutes she had declared that she couldn't recollect what was and was not classified, so for the remainder of her testimony they threw her nothing but softballs. Not once was the issue of these autorization memos discussed or questioned.

"Clinton was offered three chances to take Osama Bin Laden into custody. For whatever reasons known only to him, he turned them all down."

I can think of several reasons. The first is that he was too chickensh*t to do anything.

Or maybe he didn't actually have a problem with OBL.

But when you have a married man who can't keep his pants up, I always see a person wide open for blackmail.

Think about all of the women we do know Clinton had "relations" with and think about how much effort he went through to keep them a secret. Do you for one second imagine that there aren't many, many more we don't know about?

The question is, what did he have to do or not do to keep the evidence out of the hands of the "VRWC"?

And...it isn't just adultery that Clinton has been accused of. If half of the rumors are true, there are plenty more things for him to keep secret. So much potential for blackmail with just one borderline personality disordered president.

No wonder he got re-elected. He's a gold mine, a puppet on the string of his own lack of character and emotional intelligence to any puppet master with the right dirt.

Perhaps he was hoping for a big catastrophe on his watch, so he could get a triple-Oklahoma City effect, and maybe even push through a constitutional amendment allowing him to stay in office.
