Clinton in Interview Meltdown over Contrition Credibility
NewsMax ^ | 6/19/04 | Carl Limbacher

Two days before his $12 million book hits stores, ex-President Bill Clinton has already blown his stack at one TV interviewer who questioned if his contrition over his affair with Monica Lewinsky was credible.

"Bill Clinton loses his temper with David Dimbleby during a BBC television interview to be broadcast this week when he is repeatedly quizzed about his affair with Monica Lewinsky," reports Sunday's London Telegraph.

"The former American president, famed for his amiable disposition, becomes visibly angry and rattled, particularly when Dimbleby asks him whether his publicly declared contrition over the affair is genuine," the paper claimed.

Clinton is said to appear visibly angry during the BBC sit-down for a period of several minutes, in a scene that could disrupt the carefully crafted rollout for his megabucks memoir.

U.S. interviewers have so far handled the impeached ex-president with kid gloves during book interviews. CBS's Dan Rather praised the presidential tome to the hilt after his own sit-down with Clinton, set for broadcast Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes."

But for sheer entertainment value, Rather's overwrought gushing is likely to pale next to Dimbleby's performance.

A BBC executive who witnessed the interview, which took place in a New York hotel last Wednesday, told the Telegraph:

"[Clinton] is visibly angry with Dimbleby's line of questioning and some of that anger gets directed at Dimbleby himself."

They eyewitness said that the ex-president's videotaped rage is not a momentary flash, but instead a "substantial and sustained" outburst.

Clinton's meltdown is set for broadcast Tuesday night on BBC's popular "Panorama" show.

A crack-up on the BBC, a slam by the NYT. I can't wait to watch this trainwreck unfold,

Just shows that the media wants Kerry, and not Clinton. They don't want Clinton sucking the oxygen from the Kerry campaign.

And add in the absolute Bull $hit about sleeping on a couch for two months, with all of the empty bedrooms in the private quarters of the White House.

How freaking stupid does this imbecile think that we are?

Even though I rely on Viacom for my retiree health insurance, I sincerely hope that they lose a bundle on this piece of garbage.

Kudo's to the Brits. They had the stones to do what our own media will not. I can only imagine how red his bulbous nose became.

This is the same Dan Rather who wanted to start trashing Ronald Reagan, before his body was even buried. It is also the same Dan Rather who pitched softballs to Saddam Hussein.

Pathetic scum!

In all fairness when you say "I was sleeping on the couch" it's just a metaphor for the fact you were not sharing the marital bed. I don't think he was LITERALLY saying he was sleeping on a couch at the White House.

Excellent point. I was wondering why all the bash of the favorite son.

Maybe "the couch" was the code word for another intern. You know, I was sleeping on the couch. ;-)

Just maybe...without all of his attack dogs, his lapdog liberal press, and his personal handlers, the world and the liberals will see this POS for what he really is. The left ignored his obvious shortcomings during his presidency but now the layers of dishonesty have come off exposing the true man.

If Slick Willie Bent-pecker blows his stack everytime anyone other than an a$$-licking Rather-clone starts asking him serious questions, this is going to be a VERY short book tour.

I honestly have this image of Clinton fully expecting to see himself standing on a balcony overlooking Times Square while masses of leftist idiots are holding his 957pg tome in the air reminicent of those Cultural Revolution Chinese mindless clones waving Mao's Little Red Book in Tien An Men Square.

Hildy said: "In all fairness ..."

Thanks. You saved me the trouble.

Now Clinton's claim that he and Hillary attended counseling each week for a year? Is that what he said?

Somehow, I doubt it. That would have been enough time to discuss Juanita.

I think Clinton needs to "put some ice on it".
